I stayed in this location two separate times on this trip, once alone and the second time with fellow travelers. It is ideally located in the Aldstadt near the Abbey. I chose the beautiful corner room in the Dependence building for my first stay (there are two corner rooms, the lower floor has more windows if that is a draw for you as it was for me). It was exquisite and worth the extra francs. I especially enjoyed being able to see the city Christmas lights from a 180 degree angle. The room was spacious with comfortable extra seating. There was a nice mini fridge and coffee maker in the room as well. The bed was very relaxing and the bathroom roomy and well equipped. Check in was limited in time from 4-6 but the staff was prompt & courteous. They have two sets of luggage lockers in the check-in building for 2chf (refundable) for early arrivals. Lockers are large enough to accommodate a 23" suitcase with a bit of room to spare. My second stay was also in the Dependence building but I wanted my friends to enjoy the two corner rooms so I chose a smaller one which was still extremely comfortable. (Property photos are very accurate.) We did not partake of the breakfast at the hotel, choosing instead to eat in a Conditerei just around the corner. We were in Switzerland for the Christmas markets; chose St. Gallen as an overnight stop on our journey. I would not go to St. Gallen for its Christmas market, though the Aldstadt had beautifully decorated streets and store windows that were magical and convenient to explore.
Hotel Dom is located in the Old Town of St. Gallen, just a short walk from the Abbey of Saint Gal, which has a UNESCO World Heritage Site medieval library, and the main train station.

Roomy shower with wonderful hot water. Location was superb - especially relative to the Christkindlmarkt. Breakfast was excellent. Staff was very helpful and pleasant.
This Hotel City Weissenstein enjoys a peaceful location at the edge of the pedestrian zone of St. Gallen, close to the old town and the main railway station. Wi-Fi is available for free.

Staff is top notch from Emannuel the GM to Danni the Reception Clerk. Always available to help and provided excellent hospitality. Lobby is great to have some wine and chit chat, Breakfast was always fresh and good. Wish it would have started at 6 versus 7. Location is 1.5 blocks from the main train station and walking distance to shops restaurants and old town. Area is QUIET at night.
The Hotel Elite can be found in the center of St. Gallen, only few steps from the market square and a 5-minute walk from the railway station. It offers you rooms with free WiFi and cable TV.

The location was perfect. We were close to the main train station, and the old town. The bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was varied, plentiful and tasty.
Only the name reminds us of the military. This historic hotel is one of the most beautiful in Switzerland.

Very cool historic building with midcentury detailing. We didn't eat at restaurant but it was lively and welcoming and we wish we'd had more time to enjoy it. The location wasn't super central, but it was convenient enough for an easy walk to the city center and old town.
