We stayed for one night in between Lucerne and Lake Como.
We stayed for one night in between Lucerne and Lake Como. It was a nice break for our trip, and easy to walk around and see the town in just one day. The town is all downhill from the train, so be prepared to walk up and down hills / steps. It’s easy going and lots of little restaurants, cafes, and shopping. The lake and scenery was beautiful, but not sure I would stay for more than a day or so.

Recommend a boat tour and visiting Morcote (bring swimwear as you can get in the lake there)! Funicular tour to Monte Bre was stunning, definitely a must see.
Cocktails in Flamel were dreamy, would definitely do dinner there next time.

Lugano is beautiful town with very friendly people. We drove around Lugano lake, did a hike to Monte Bre and then drove to Valle Verzasca for a swim in the amazing setting! Water is icy cold, but it didn’t stop kids enjoying themselves. We only stayed one day, so that wasn’t even a close enough to see what Lugano can offer.

We liked the italian vibe and atmosphere. Food was excellent. People friendlier than in other parts of Switzerland. Just a note: Switzerland is very expensive. Ex: Price of a Margaritta Pizza in Switzerland close to $30, just over $20 in Milan, just 1 hour away in train.
This little hotel, which I booked at the last minute with few expectations, turned out to be great. The rooms are actually bigger than they look in the photos, and they were clean and well appointed. The staff was kind and helpful. The location is great, just a 15 minute walk to the centre of town, or an extremely short bus ride. (Staying at the hotel comes with a free bus pass, and the bus stop is just 200 m away. Buses run frequently and on time – this is Switzerland after all.) Breakfast was good, too.
Great view! You could just sit there and enjoy the view! It’s amazing! We liked the possibility of taking a bus down to the city and leaving the car parked by the hotel. Close to the funicular taking you to Monte Bre, which offers even more spectacular view on Lugano and surrounding mountains.
Nice little hotel that offers really good value when looking for a place to sleep in Lugano. Located 10 mins away from the city centre by foot, it's a great option to avoid the insanely high prices of other smaller hotels in the area.
