Penticton offers a wealth of opportunities for visitors from the semi-desert climate to the vast variety of activities that can be enjoyed. Sun, beaches, cycling, hiking, wine tours in a relatively small community provides plenty of choices for all ages. I was there for a dragonboat festival that was a well run event and enjoyed by all participants. Unfortunately this was the last year there was an ironman competition, but that is the organizers loss. Fall is the perfect time to visit as temperature is moderate and the wine is ready for tasting.

A fun town for a getaway, or an extra night on a roadtrip.

A fun town for a getaway, or an extra night on a roadtrip. So many great dining options from casual tasty food trucks to date-night tapas. It's very bike friendly, and riding the rail trial to wineries, cideries and breweries is a perfect day's activity. The waterfront is a great local hangout spot, grab a takeout pizza and watch the sunset. After all that, bike or float down the canal to Skaha Lake, another gorgeous area, you may need to extend your vacation!

Penticton is a great beach town with two lovely lakes. There are also lots of wineries around for doing tastings. We visited the Dirty Laundry which is a spectacular patio with a great view in Summerland.

Its a beautiful small town nested between two lakes. 2-3 days is sufficient time, but I recommend planning to come around days of festival to get the best of the town. Both lakes are beautiful, nearby Naramata Bench, Munson Mountain, Sun Rock, Wine Tasting, strolling on the streets, enjoying dinner at the Okanagan beach or kayaking from Okanagan lake to Skaha - plenty to do to have a fantastic summer weekend.

Penticton is a hot bed for cycling.

Penticton is a hot bed for cycling. There is a good, protected cycling route from Lake to Lake. There are still some connectablity issues but the city is working on this. Of course it is a jumping off place for the KVR to Kelowna, Chute Lake and the Southern Spur to OK Falls and beyond. Motels like the Bowmont are great for cyclists as they have large rooms and allow you to store your bike inside.

Wonderful staff; rooms were large and beds were very comfortable; kitchen was stocked with everything needed to cook meals; excellent location with lake view and balcony access. Even though needs renovations (of which they are in the process of doing) the suite met all of our needs. I will definitely book here the next time I visit Penticton.

Location was perfect, right by the waterfront but away from the nitty gritty of Penticton. The road to Naramata (for hiking) was right there). I asked for quiet and I got quiet! Blackout curtains really blocked all light, I slept soundly. Also, the coffee for their Keurig was excellent!
