La Paz is a huge city, bigger than I was thinking.
La Paz is a huge city, bigger than I was thinking.
There are tons of areas and locations to visit whiting La Paz, such as Lake Titi Kaka, Volcanoes, Andes Mountain Range, the "death road", cable cars, historical downtown, the witches market, etc.
I stayed for 3 days and 3 nights, and I believe it was enough for La Paz itself.

La Paz is a very unique city as the culture blends Latin American culture with the Aymara culture. Be aware of the altitude as it can be hard on your body and walking the streets tiring.
They have an amazing "teleferico" system of transportation.

This city is the strangerst city I was ever visiting. millions of brickhouses in a deserted vally surrounded by mountains between 5000 and 6000 meter. We had a very nice time and the best food in the restaurant Manca.

I have visited La Paz before staying last time in the tourist area near the 'Witches Market'. Since then the amazing cable car (tram/gondola/teleferico) network has been installed across the city making exploring the city much easier and affording impressive views. The city is about its extraordinary geography being set in an enormous and impressive canyon with huge snow capped mountains nearby but also the Bolivian people whose unique, friendly and colourful character is great to experience.
This visit we stayed in the 'Sur' part of town which is not touristy but its easier to walk the streets at night while being well connected to the city during the day by cable car.

La Paz is a place like no other.
La Paz is a place like no other. The city of the skies with the main mode of transport being just that. Extremely efficient impressive cable car system. A vibrant place, full of culture, local tales and customs.
Great souvenir shops with quality goods. Stunning textiles and crafts. Friendly people..As a woman walking around on my own I felt completely safe . Zero hassle from men. Highly recommend a trip to the Moon Valley. If you forget any hiking or mountain wear don't worry there are dozens of trekking shops.
Grab a delicious cheese sandwich from a street stall. The bread here is delicious and high-quality.

La Paz is a great city to visit.
La Paz is a great city to visit. It's breathtaking, and I mean that literally. Situated at about 3600 meters you will have trouble breathing if it's you are not aclimated to altitude.
The telefericos are great to get a view of the city and explore the neigborhoods. I'd recommend doing a walking tour and learn as much as possible about the prison. It is self regulated by the prisonners. You can meet crazy Dave at 1pm everyday for a story about it as hes lived inside for about 16 year.
Lots of activity to do. Coca museum. Death road by bike (I recommend the agency baracuda they are very profesionnal). Mercado. Cholita's WWE :).
I'd recommend skipping valle de la luna to do valle de las animas instead. It's a 4-6 hours walk and it's really nice.
And many others things...

I liked the interior and smell of the lobby very much. Hotel show artists works which I really appreciate. Also they much the atmosphere. The room was clean and nice. The hot water was stable and hot. I often had this problem in Bolivia.
The stuffs were kind and friendly though some do not speak English well. I asked to warm up the hot tub in the swimming pool and it was quickly done.
If there were sauna and a roof top bar it may be much better.
With the famed Witches' Market conveniently around the corner and Saint Francis Square around two more corners, this property could not be more central. Warm bed, clean bathroom, and hearty breakfast: what more could a traveller wish for? I loved the overall feel of the place, steeped in rich Bolivian culture and tradition. The price was more than generous.
The breakfast staff keeps the kitchen so clean that you could perform a heart transplantation on the counter.
I have not been at a hostel in Bolivia where they took so much care of cleanliness:)
Overall super helpful staff and good vibes! The receptionist helped me to fix budget friendly accommodation in Riberalta which I am so thankful for!
A very basic hotel but good value for the price. Breakfast was fine. The room was basic but clean as was the bathroom. Best shower we've had in Bolivia. The location is great for exploring the city.
Oscar is very nice and without him we wouldnt experience La Paz and Bolivia easy. The laundry is definitely a bonus and there are plenty of spaces for sun drying. Overall the house is very cozy.
