We really enjoyed our stay at Algara Hut. The place is in a beautiful setting in the Rila mountain, the building and the decoration are lovely, the food is excellent and the staff is very friendly.
The hut is very clise to the lift for the Seven Rila lakes hike, and to Sapareva Bania - a great location to explore Rila.

It is a magical remote location situated in an amazing forest.Clean, fresh air and beautiful forest of tall pine trees.
Very well maintained and cute surroundings. It is not exactly a village but a remote location with few mountain hotels .Perfect for hiking to the Seven Rilla Lakes or other less difficult hikes.You need a car for sure but there are also buses from Sofia passing through.The lift is far for a walking distance .It is around 6.5 km from there.

Very friendly and helpful staff, great car parking, comfortable bed, good wifi, nice swimming pool (a little on the small side). Very good breakfast with a good choice of different options.
On the down side, no lift, no air-conditioning and a little deceptive to mention that the Rila Monastery was about 16km away...not CLEARLY mentioning that this is in a straight line. It is a one and a half hour drive..... 😔

Skakavica hut has a marevelous location. The path marking on the way needs imorovenent. The hut has started renovating the building, but has still a long way to go. The rooms and corridors are very old style. The service and guardians are nice though.

We used the hotel as a stopping off point between the Rila Monastery and Sofia Airport so we weren't there for very long. Beware as the hotel comes up as being close to the monastery which it is as the crow flies but there is a mountain range in between! It is 70 miles away by road and is up a mountain road covered in snow and ice so not for the nervous driver in winter. However we enjoyed our stay very much as the hotel was quirky and we will remember it and possibly stay again if we do some trekking in the Rila Mountains.

I was looking for single day, round trails, rather than pass...
I was looking for single day, round trails, rather than pass trough hiking trails. Found only few of them nearby: Seven Rila Lakes, Ribni Ezera and near Kostenets. The Seven Rila Lakes are nice, The Ribni Ezrea could be nice (our trip was canceled due to bad weather).
I Panichishte there are several nice restaurant and spas (even though we are not enthusiast by them).
We met groups of hiking guys that used Panichishte as starting point for they hike. You may do so as well.
This is a family hotel, targeting families with kids.
The restaurant was free great. The service as well, we were able to get a massage in the last moment and they accommodated perfectly for it.
The SPA area was also very nice with a herbal sauna, Finnish sauna, hammam and a salt room as well as an inside swimming pool.
The location is fantastic! The nature around the hotel is simply amazing. The apartment was spacious and wide enough for a family of 4. The food in the restaurant was nice. It is located 15 minutes away from the Seven Rila Lakes Lift station. Great experience!
Nice and clean hotel in beatiful location..Nice restaurant..The owner did his best for us even gave us a present a jarr of jam that we loved in the breakfast.I would like to visit there in summer.
