It's a very beautiful city and compact enough to discover on foot. Lovely buildings interspersed with great bars & restaurants. They seem to take beer very seriously - poured to perfection for each specific beer in the correct glass, usually placed with the label towards you.
We walked all over the centre of the city at day and night and it always felt safe.

A beautiful city with friendly, helpful people. Lots of interesting, historical architecture. Bars & restaurants are typically inflated city centre / tourist prices that you get anywhere.
We will return to see more of the city during better weather.

We travelled in winter so our initial plans were around daylight hours. Once there the nighttime atmosphere was just as good to enjoy and feel safe. Too many great eating places to list - we picked a street each night and tried all sorts of cuisine choices- so good!
Certainly lots to see, do and explore. Lots to see on any budget too. There are enough tall spires to keep you oriented to where you are because it’s easy to keep rambling down different streets.

The stunning towers of the medieval city are one of the draws of this university city, which is a vibrant place. The virtual reality tour in the Cathedral is not to be missed as the Gent Alter panel is a 'must see'.

Ghent is undoubtedly one of the most charming cities in Belgium, offering a perfect blend of history, culture, and modern amenities. Personally, I find it far more captivating than Brussels and Bruges. Its well-connected and efficient transportation system makes getting around the city seamless and stress-free, allowing visitors to immerse themselves fully in its beauty. The culinary scene is equally impressive, with a wide range of restaurants serving everything from traditional Flemish dishes to innovative international cuisine. Whether exploring its picturesque canals, admiring the stunning medieval architecture, or simply indulging in its vibrant food culture, Ghent truly stands out as a must-visit destination in Belgium.

From first contact with Herbert, we knew we are about to have a wonderful time in his property. And we weren’t wrong! Lovely and polite owners who did awesome job with decorating the apartment. There is really nothing that you will miss. Kitchen and bathroom fully equipped, towels and bedding at disposal, everything very clean and cosy. Rooftop terrace is a hidden gem! Connection to city center is easy, either with bus, or Uber.
We can definitely recommend this place, and we are sure we will come stay here again next time we visit Belgium.
The property was built in 1593 by a Spanish marquis, who traded nearby. This fact alone would be enough to impress me, but in addition the staff is very friendly, the interior makes you feel like you're visiting a nobleman, and the location could not be better.
I spent around 20 days travelling in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, and Ghent was the city that impressed me most. Erasmus Hotel was one of the reasons for it.
We had a wonderful stay at Ganda Rooms and Suites and really enjoyed the city of Ghent. We used it as a home base to visit Ypres and Bruges, both of which we'd highly recommend, but Ghent was our favorite city in Belgium.
Annik & Kristof are wonderful hosts, and their home is beautiful. We enjoyed the breakfast with fresh baked bread, meats, muesli, fruit, and eggs made to order.
We would highly recommend a stay here
The location was perfect, 5 min walk from the centre as you can see from the map. This was a huge convenience, and the only reason not to leave the hotel after the first night. The staff was also great, very polite and open to any question about Ghent!
