As the world’s largest diamond-cutting city, Antwerp (Anvers in French) is naturally affluent. It comes as no surprise then that fashion is also of utmost importance, so the shopping here is excellent. It may not be the cheapest place, but the quality certainly matches the price.
Another big business in Antwerp is the port, one of Europe’s largest. Take a cruise around to admire its scale. The Scheldt River leads from the port into the city, and on its banks are a handful of interesting museums and Het Steen, a medieval castle built to protect the city against Viking invasions.
A few streets back is the Grote Markt, a beautiful square flanked by the grand town hall and 16th-century guildhouses – a typically Belgian scene. Behind this is UNESCO World Heritage-listed Antwerp Cathedral, whose asymmetrical towers look down over Groenplaats, a tranquil square filled with pavement cafes. Belgian beer is legendary and the local brew is De Koninck, which packs quite a punch.
In the south of the city is the most unusual sight – Wilrijk’s huge Jain Temple, one of the largest outside India. A little further east is Antwerp Airport, efficiently connected by public transport to the Antwerp hotels, guesthouses and apartments that are available on Booking.com.
A great city with a rich history, and some great food!
A great city with a rich history, and some great food! The city has a lot of options, with a lot of modern chains in the city center, while having some cozy places in the old town.
Make sure to visit the giant cathedral, even if you're not religious. It's a marvellous piece of history, and an impressive building to see from the outside and the inside.

Public transport a bit of a mess. Metro lifts not working, tram lines in the centre being repaired.

My favorite thing was the old historic buildings and the good and easy availability of the local transportation.
My unfavorable was full today rain during my two days stay, so we could not visit the city for sight seen.

Small quiet city. Nothing much happening.
Small quiet city. Nothing much happening. Could visit everything in 2 days. Nice architecture. Everything is 10-15 walking distance. There are bikes and electric scouters everywhere so just look left and right all the time. There are trams and busses going everywhere. Do not use uber or bolt.

Went for Xmas markets.
Went for Xmas markets. Lights were well done and old town was spectacular. Felt the market stalls were focused on food and drink and most didn't sell products reflecting culture of the region compared to markets we've been to in other countries

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Antwerp
Our visit was brief and the hotel chosen was all about location - easy walking distance too the train station . Reception was prompt and efficient but the on line check in facility had not been working the prior day when I tried a number of times from the UK which curtailed our time in Antwerp as there had also been a 2 hour delay on our Eurostar journey and a missed connection in Brussels . We left for Amsterdam before breakfast the following morning so didnt see what the restaurant was like .
The rooms at the Hilton Antwerp Old Town are very spacious and comfortable. Same we can say about the bathroom. The Conciergerie is a little under-staffed but always solicitous. The breakfast was super.
Maybe with time they will renew/update the premisses. I hope they do for it is a very good hotel.
Fairly basic but clean and comfortable hotel a short walk near the southern end of Antwerp Station. Fairly spacious bedroom and comfortable bed (though very warm at night with no air conditioning). Decor was functional but OK. Shower and toilet were fine. Good, standard continental breakfast buffet.
Very good hotel with good sizes rooms and amenities. On the same trip we also stayed at the Ibis Centrum in Bruges (not reviewed by me because it was booked by someone else).
The room in Antwerp was much better, and had a much less restrictive set up than the one in Bruges).
