The cabin we stayed in was very well set up and comfortable. I was surprised that there was a well equipped kitchen and that the cabin itself was so spacious. I was expecting a cramped 'caravan' type experience but was pleasantly surprised. As a bonus, there was a koala in a tree just above our cabin!! The managers were very helpful in recommending somewhere to buy dinner and we enjoyed walking along the clifftop and taking in the views. The park appeared to be extremely well maintained. It was early in our trip so we didn't use the laundry etc, and of course had our own en suite, but all of the facilities looked to be in good order.

Great town with all the facilities you need and more, when the weather is good the area thrives and when the weather turns a little for the worse it still turns it on for you and there is plenty to do.

Portland is that place that people seem to like but infrequently visit because it's that bit 'too far' (from Melbourne) for a weekend and that is probably why it's a bit of a special place. I love Portland's buildings, the views and its 'realness' and the fact that you can see a koala in a tree without it attracting a crowd; it's not a confected holiday town. It's fascinating to watch the large port at work and to wander the gardens. The library is a treat with a beautiful reading lounge with harbour-views. We got great coffees and breakfasts from the beach-facing cafes. Dinner options are a bit 'light-on' compared to more touristic towns but we found great food and fantastic, friendly service at Edwards Waterfront and there are also plenty of pubs! There's a useable beach a few hundred metres north of the main shopping area and you can also swim in a designated area of the harbour, which is clearly marked. A short drive beyond the port leads to some beautiful views of some accessible surf (not a large beach but a spot that is popular with surfers on the right day) as well as the smelter and the wind-farm. It's all-go!

I didn't stay in Portland long enough to make any recommendations. But I did have a walk around the city centre which was ok. What I could recommend is the 1hr drive to Mt Gambier during which you drive among pine forests and on a nice sunny day it would be enjoyable.

We like fishing there and visiting the Gannet Colony and Shelly Beach, the RSL does great food. In Winter there is the chance to see whales. The bark chip trucks unloading is interesting to watch. The dahlia display in the botanical gardens is awesome in April/May. The local fish and chip shop in the main street near the post office has the best fresh fish ever.

My comfortable overnight stay to break the inland journey from Adelaide to Melbourne was an excellent choice. It was not long enough to see much more than the gorgeous Bay, averting eyes away from the port constructions at one side. I enjoyed an excellent seafood meal at the nearby beachfront restaurant.

Seascape was a beautiful place to stay. Very clean, modern and an easy walk to the shoreline and town.
We walked to town and picked up some roasted chicken & the fixings and ate back at the apartment. Fully equipped kitchen!
Unfortunately, we only stayed 1 night, so can't recommend things to do in Portland, although it is a quaint little town.
it was bit difficult to collect keys and find cottage since i have arrived night and it was dark its bit an adventure going back to portland hotel and collect keys. my suggestion to arrive before sunset
