Hotel Radetzky, hotel in Sankt Gilgen

Hotel Radetzky is in the heart of St. Gilgen, a town located on the banks of Wolfgang Lake in the Salzkammergut region. The hotel is only 30 minutes away from Salzburg.

Staff can make or break a stay for me, The front desk and owner have been extremely helpful and really made the effort to make me feel like at home. The location is 10/10, right in the middle of this beautiful town overlooking the church and lake. I will return in the future, and I wish all the best to the owner.

Hotel Hollweger, hotel in Sankt Gilgen

Located amid a sunny and quiet green space, Hotel Hollweger offers beautiful views of St. Gilgen, the mountains, and Lake Wolfgang.

A lovely hotel in an amazing location, with beautiful views and plenty to do. The town is short walk away and we found it to be very relaxed, not nearly as touristy as some nearby towns. A number of other lakes and towns are a 5-15min drive away.

Seehotel Huber, hotel in Sankt Gilgen

Located in Sankt Gilgen, 24 miles from Salzburg Central Station, Seehotel Huber provides accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

The staff at Seehotel Huber were very gracious. The property is beautiful and well-maintained. The dining was excellent, both dinner and breakfast. Breakfast was included in our accommodation. The room was very comfortable. It is a lovely traditional property that is family-run. We chose it for these reasons and are glad we did. A couple of notes: the rooms are not airconditioned, and it was unseasonably warm, but the windows were open, and the evening air was very nice. Lake Wofgangsee is close and incredibly beautiful. The hotel is near a ferry to the picturesque town of Wolfgangsee. We should have chosen a taxi from St. Gilgen. We took a bus from Salzburg to reach our destination, and the bus stop was a scenic walk to the hotel. It was a bit difficult if you have luggage (as we did).

Hotel Kendler, hotel in Sankt Gilgen

Located in Sankt Gilgen, 19 miles from Salzburg Central Station, Hotel Kendler provides accommodations with a terrace, free private parking and a restaurant.

Very modern and clean rooms. Our room had no sheer curtains, only the night curtains so I felt a bit exposed to the adjacent houses if I wanted the day light to come in. Breakfast was exceptional, also Bus pick up location only a few minutes walk away.

The timing of our visit (January 7th to 12th) wasn't ideal, as many shops and restaurants were closed during this period. However, for nature enthusiasts Sankt Gilgen was a dream come true! The snow-covered Apls created a magical winter wonderland, offering breathtaking views and landscapes. We had easy access to nearby attractions that are definitely worth exploring, making it a fantastic destination for those who appreciate tranquility and the beauty of nature.

Quiet little town, lovely location for hiking around the lake and mountains, easy to reach by bus from Salzburg. Not a huge number of shops but you can get what you need. Reasonable choice of restaurants.

If you’re short on time St Gilgen is a one day trip, mostly for the Zwolferhorn cable car and mountain walk and Wolfgangsee Ferry. The town lack good restaurants and cafes, very old sleepy vibe. I would prefer staying in Bad Ischl (as base) and travel to St Wolfgang, Hallstatt, St Gilgen, etc.

Sankt Gilgen is a beautiful, small town/ village, Because of the time of season we were there, a number of restaurants and the Mozart Mother museum were closed. Other restaurants closed on certain days. This was common in a number of places we visited on our European trip. In the evening, we often found we were the only ones on the street -- which is fine for us. It is a beautiful place, and once the weather is warmer the large lake would play a key role in swimming, boating, etc. As it was, we did none of this, due to cooler weather. When the tourist season begins in earnest, none the closings, etc would exist. We drive into St. Wolfgang, and as we had researced, it is a larger town with more in it, and also more touristy with some very nice hotels and restaurants. We are happy we were able to come back to relax in Sankt Gilgen. We also took a day trip to Hallstadt (about 45 minute drive) which we enjoyed. And again, glad to come back to the Anna Pertl.

Sankt Gilgen is ideally situated for accessing the local lakes and mountains. Lots to do - cable car, lake passenger ferry, Halstatt, St Wolfgang/Schafberg bahn. Some great restaurants. The city of Salzburg is a bus ride away.

The room exceeded all our highest expectations. It was incredibly cozy and comfortable. The bed, kitchen amenities, refrigerator, and the extremely welcoming atmosphere made our stay unique and unforgettable! We received the electronic key card from Stefanie, along with a tour and the Salzkammergut summer discount card! Ms. Stefanie was exceptionally kind and courteous. Our trip around the area was memorable for its stunning views and very convenient infrastructure. We will definitely return to this hotel, and I believe more than once!
