We loved the location. We were traveling every day, so the location added about 20min to the journey usually, but the peace and beautiful nature were worth it. Our room was amazing and had everything we could need, it was stylish and quite spacious. We had chilled water in the fridge, big closet and walk-in shower - and the towels! So soft and absorbent ♡
Breakfast was always nice and filling, there were meaty, vegan and vegetarian options, great pastry, hot and cold drinks and fresh eggs and bacon on the spot.
Though we didn't travel with a dog, we appreciated, that dogs were welcomed and nicely accommodated by hotel staff.
Also we recommend visiting the Hintersee lake, it's smaller then Wolfgangsee, but it also has less people there and is set more in nature.

If you’re short on time St Gilgen is a one day trip, mostly for the Zwolferhorn cable car and mountain walk and Wolfgangsee Ferry. The town lack good restaurants and cafes, very old sleepy vibe. I would prefer staying in Bad Ischl (as base) and travel to St Wolfgang, Hallstatt, St Gilgen, etc.

Sankt Gilgen is a beautiful, small town/ village, Because of the time of season we were there, a number of restaurants and the Mozart Mother museum were closed. Other restaurants closed on certain days. This was common in a number of places we visited on our European trip. In the evening, we often found we were the only ones on the street -- which is fine for us. It is a beautiful place, and once the weather is warmer the large lake would play a key role in swimming, boating, etc. As it was, we did none of this, due to cooler weather. When the tourist season begins in earnest, none the closings, etc would exist. We drive into St. Wolfgang, and as we had researced, it is a larger town with more in it, and also more touristy with some very nice hotels and restaurants. We are happy we were able to come back to relax in Sankt Gilgen. We also took a day trip to Hallstadt (about 45 minute drive) which we enjoyed. And again, glad to come back to the Anna Pertl.

hiking to two large mountains around (both also accessible by cable car/train). ferry cruise options + sightseeing nearby towns. 1h car rides to unlimited sports (e.g. Bad Ischl, Hallstatt, Salzburg).
Sight from the terrace is just magical - the hotel situated in one of the most beautiful places in the world, no kidding! Services, personnel, facilities, breakfast - all just perfect! Special thanks for working heating even during summer - the week we were there it was very chilly and rainy, but warm and cosy in the room. Another big plus is direct exit to the shore, where we could securely and easily keep our SUP-boards. Highly recommend to have a dinner in the hotel’s restaurant, also.
The hotel stands alone in a beautiful natural spot, with an easy 5 min ferry ride to St Gilgen. There are lots of hiking and swimming spots. The boat provides easy access to St Wolfgang and Strobl. The restaurant is relaxed but excellent quality and very popular with locals. Booking is recommended. Every night we were delighted to eat the delicious specials. Breakfast was simply amazing, the chefs are superb! The staff were hard working and incredibly friendly.
Super clean, friendly place, with a restaurant in place, a fresh breakfast and some extra services like bike rental or sauna.
Great hiking opportunities near the hotel.
