Looking for a capsule hotel?
Developed in Japan, these cheap 'pod' hotels are a novelty for any traveller. With rows of small single bed enclosed capsules, accommodation is basic and intended to be overnight. There is separate storage for luggage and gender-separate communal bathrooms — some capsule hotels also have a sentō, a Japanese bath house, often for male guests only.

There may have been redeeming qualities if I had been allowed to stay in the capsule I had paid for. Karlsruhe itself seems like a nice city and there was a supermarket across the road. The hotel was near to a metro/tram station. Some of the other guests were friendly and helpful trying to assist me in my situation detailed below.

I would say that for the price, this hotel is an excellent place to stay. The location is convenient, the room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. I would especially like to thank the man at the front desk, who went above and beyond to help me store my bags at the hotel until I was picked up in the evening.

The Ibis hotel is conveniently located next to the train station. Buses and trams stop directly in front of the hotel and are a cheap way of getting around the city.

Newly constructed Premier Inn, with facilities to match. Very friendly staff. Convenient location close to the Hbf, and at a decent price.

A new experience. Aspects of the capsule offer advantage over bunk beds. Friendly staff!

I’ve stayed at capsule hotels before so have Ana awareness of how they can be. Accessible. Cheap.

Great hostel. A very interesting design, the capsules have everything convenient. Inside it, you can use a fan, a laptop table, a mirror, lights, reading lamps, charge your phone, listen to music and much more. In the corridor there is air conditioning, fitting room, desks, a personal locker. Capsules, toilets and showers are clean. There is WiFi on the territory. The staff are responsive and friendly, self check-in and check-out are very easy and fast. The hostel is near from the underground and tram station.

Simple pod beds with basic amenities for those traveling on a budget, or just need a bed for a few hours of sleep. For the price, perfectly adequate. The shared kitchen had plenty of amenities, free water and vending machines for essentials.
