For travellers who love being in nature with an added sense of luxury. Also called glamping, tented camps provide full or limited services, while surrounded by the wilderness. Typically in permanent or semi-permanent camps, these private tents/yurts are a great way to rough it while staying glamorous.
Excellent location inside the Fort. Large room with a verandah giving a good view of the ramparts, sea and sunset. Very helpful staff with good English. Mosquito nets worked well
Small, simple very friendly and quiet guest house in the heart of Galle fort, with very clean comfortable room with A/C and hot showers. Good Breakfast with plenty of variety of both European and Sri Lankan options. Seating outside the room on shared verandah, also a small common room with kettle and cooking facility to cook own food if required. We stayed here 30 years ago, the guest house has grown from 3 rooms to 10, still in the same family, with still the same warm welcome and standards,
Mr Ruka, his wife & daughter were friendly & helpful. The home-cooked food was plentiful & good. Mr Ruka organised an excellent river safari, where we saw lots of birds & other wildlife, & insisted we took his china teapot & cups on the boat with us, so we could enjoy our morning tea! The hotel's riverside location is lovely - great to watch the birds while eating breakfast under the canopy in the garden. Mr Ruka also offers a tuktuk service.
The room was very good value for money, it was spotless and clean with a great aircon and mosquito net.
It had an incredible view from the roof where you can have sunset drinks and meals.
It was a short walk to Unawatuna and to Jungle Beach.
The host, Ranga, is a great guy who is always willing to help and very accommodating.
Fabulous location in the centre of Galle Fort but on a quiet street. Beautifully appointed property with open plan ground floor leading onto a secluded garden with seating. We had a first floor room, mosquito nets on bed, hot shower, quiet, efficient air-con. Our only comment would be, as someone else has previously mentioned, there were no hooks to hang towels or any clothes on in either the bedroom or bathroom, not a major issue but one that could easily be addressed.
The accommodation is right by a river and you’ll see a lot of wildlife (monkeys, warrans, birds) all day. The owner arranged a river safari for us which was a lot of fun.
Also the breakfast and dinner prepared by the owners are amazing.
The location is amazing. Chill zone to relax, read a book and drink. The area is clean and well maintained. Comfortable beds with mosquito nets. The manager is helpful. The beach is wide and long, great for morning walks. You can enjoy watching the sunset from the beach beds. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and offer a variety of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. Great place to meet people or hang out with friends.
Nice and kind host. Tasty local breakfast. House is right on the beachfront, with amazing terrace, where you have sunbeds and hammocks. You can watch fishermens on their special boats. very close to chilling beach bars where you can get happy hours coctails during watching sunsets.
Very welcoming and helpful staff. Great breakfast with fresh fruit, homemade Sri Lankan breakfast. Comfortable bed with good a/c and lighting and mosquito net. Good shower. Nice verandah to sit on. Good vibe generally and superb value.
This was an amazing place to spend one of our last nights in Sri Lanka. The back garden is a truly magical place. It is like having a river safari in your back yard. We sat their and watch Monkeys, Beautiful huge water monitors (like a small crocodile), Stunning birds. It was so peaceful. I could have spent hours watching the river, nature and wildlife. The property itself was beautiful and extremely comfortable and the host is an amazing friendly and kind man. Couldn't recommend more : )
