For travellers who love being in nature with an added sense of luxury. Also called glamping, tented camps provide full or limited services, while surrounded by the wilderness. Typically in permanent or semi-permanent camps, these private tents/yurts are a great way to rough it while staying glamorous.
Well located, we loved the green opposite and the riverside walk with a variety of birds and wildlife and red squirrels! Very clean and comfortable stay. Host was extremely helpful and easy to get hold of by phone.
A genuine pub full of character but with really modern bedroom fittings, obviously very recently refurbished. Huge bed which was very comfortable. Adequate bathroom facilities.
Dinner was very good indeed - a good choice for each course and cooked by a chef who clearly knew how to cook meat to retain succulence.
Staff very friendly and efficient.
Having driven over 5 hrs in appalling conditions the Royal Oak was like an oasis in the desert!
Fiona was really friendly and relaxed, so easy to get along with and have a joke. Room was nicely decorated and large bed really comfortable, nice strong hot shower which you don’t always get, nice and big with plenty of towels. Tea, coffee & biscuits in the room together with a fridge with fresh milk which was a nice touch. Exceptional cooked breakfast with all the trimmings. Perfect location for exploring Cumbria, Yorkshire and the Borders. Can’t recommend this place enough, have already booked a return trip next spring!
Fabulous setting, full of history and beautiful carved furniture. Simply stunning. Despite the age of the castle, it was warm & cosy in my room, and the lovely window shutters and heavy curtains meant the room was nice and dark too. Lovely hot shower.
The Hotel is lovely, very relaxed atmosphere, lovely friendly staff. We had dinner on the first night which was excellent and the deserts were amazing. Breakfast also very nice. The room had everything you needed and was spotless, lovely bathroom too.
