To clarify: We have visited several other islands in the Maldives, the Seychelles, Mauritius, Bali, Thailand, Malaysia, the Caribbean and Australia - to mention some! We also find it much more interesting to visit a local island than to stay at an artificially created “bubble” at a resort. Three Hearts Guesthouse offers absolutely delicious meals from many parts of the world that all taste wonderful, including lovely Maldivian dishes!! The vegetarian and vegan options are all excellent and highly recommendable. The guesthouse has a well kept lounge area and the outdoor area is decorated with tropical plants. In addition Three hearts offers books to read in several languages, toys and games. Guests can also enjoy the relaxing hammock under the palm trees by the water a few steps from the guesthouse. Additionally there is a great place to sit and chat amongst more palm trees with the charming Maldivian seating in a refreshing spot next to the guesthouse. The atmosphere is friendly and homie thanks to the superb and caring hosts Elvira and Simbe. They offer exquisite tours with friendly local guides with years of experience. The guides know exactly how and where to go to give you the best and most beautiful experiences! We saw dolphins and mantas and countless turtles close up. Totally harmless sharks were also fascinating to see:) On top of this you can borrow snorkeling equipment free of charge at Three Hearts. The snorkeling in the area is fabulous - the best we have experienced after visiting more than 100 countries! The rooms are spacious, clean and perfectly well kept every day and beds are very comfortable. We also very much appreciated the fact that Three hearts is aware of the challenge concerning garbage coming in from the ocean: they offer a refreshing, homemade lemonade if you participate in taking responsibility of cleaning up certain areas of the island!

Situated on the beachfront in Fulhadhoo, Azoush Tourist Guesthouse has a garden. This 3-star guest house offers a private beach area, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. It is our 2nd time in Maldives and we stayed in Azoush for 3 days. The guest house is located in Fulhadoo, Baa Atol, which is a sanctuary for a lot of marine life. It is 2 hrs by speedboat from Male - away from the touristy local islands. They have a beautiful resident reef and an area where you can see manta rays, sea turtles, colorful fishes and white sandbars. The local island is very peaceful, pristine and doesn't have much of a nightlife if you want your own private retreat. The highlight of our trip was actually our experience with Azoush guesthouse. Saman and his staff went above and beyond to provide us a memorable travel experience. They encouraged us to go on day trips and provided us reasonable prices as they have their own boat for excursions. The fishing trip and swimming with the manta rays that they have suggested will always be one of our core travel memories now in Maldives. They have a very generous breakfast plates, provided us with the complimentary fishing trip meal, coconut drinks and coffee when they feel that we need it after a long tiring day. They took us to the local beach with their golf cart and made us a short phone video on the fishing excursion that we had. The guest house is still currently 3 stars and there is an ongoing construction to make it a 5 star hotel. The room is spacious, a typical local Maldivian guest house and is very comfortable. The mosque next to it might be loud in the first early mornings but will be a music to your ears, later on, signaling the start of a new day. They have a stable wifi connection but on and off tv cable connection. You are on a trip on this beautiful island to disconnect and experience a new culture, right? This is truly an example of a 5-star service and experience without overspending. Everything is done perfectly and exceeded our expectations from communication with the hotel, during our stay and leaving that beautiful island.

Facing the seafront in Fulhadhoo, The Fulhadhoo Beach Cottage has a garden and a terrace. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. We have spent a wonderful holiday on the island of Fulhadhoo, where the White sandy beach, one of the 100 most beautiful beaches of the world (rated by Lonely Planet), is located. The house, which is directly on the beach has a splendid view of the sea. The entire house is decorated in a uniform style with great attention to detail. Our sea view room was clean and spacious enough, equipped with air conditioning and a mini fridge. There was a shared living room with access to a terrace and with a sea view. This is undoubtedly the most stylish and beautiful accommodation on the island. I would especially like to highlight the approach of our host Mohamed, who was kind, helpful, accommodating, ready to help us at any time with any problem or request. He managed a transfer from/to the airport for us, a cot for our three years old child, etc. He was helpful to us throughout our stay. We believe to come to this wonderful place again someday.

Set in Dharavandhoo, 600 metres from Dharavandhoo Beach, Manta Sky Inn offers accommodation with a private beach area, free WiFi, free shuttle service, and full-day security. Staff were very kind and helpful. It’s good value for staying. They arrange speed ferry from Male and pick up and drop off to the ferry terminal. When I go diving, one the male staff came to me to carry my diving material and very kind. They always care about me if I am comfortable or not. Very good service.

Madi Giri Guest House is a recently renovated guest house in Maalhos, where guests can make the most of its private beach area and garden. The island is close to Dharavandhoo airport. Maahlos is a very charming little island with very friendly locals with a good balance of tourists to locals. The guesthouse is well located close to the beach and the island's central café, the Vaataru Café. The guesthouse is highly recommended and the owner looks after the guests in an almost family-like manner.

With garden views, Tropical Tree is set in Fehendhoo and has a restaurant, full-day security, bar, garden, children's playground and picnic area. The stay in Tropical Tree Guesthouse definitely made our holidays in Maldives. The treatment & highly professional way of interacting with the guests is phenomenal, and deserves all the praise. The guesthouse staff demonstrated a great level of enthusiasm and hospitality. (Despite of rather small size of the lodge and lack of any luxury). Very well done! The excursions offered by the hotel (we booked 2x fishing tours and snorkeling) were simply amazing (especially the fishing tours). It was different from any other plain vanilla „commercial“ tours we previously met other countries. The tours are being performed with high level of enthusiasm and efforts of the guides. We definitely recommend to visit the wonderful island and especially this hotel to everyone, who is willing to explore the „Real“- Maldives.

Dhoani Maldives Guesthouse is a recently renovated guest house in Kendhoo, where guests can make the most of its garden and barbecue facilities. The property has garden views. The workers were amazing and so proactive. The stay was smooth and well organized. Easy access to activity and a calm beach. I would definitely recommend and renew the experience.

Featuring a private beach area and views of sea, Dhonfulhafi Beach View is a recently renovated guest house located in Maalhos, a few steps from Bikini Beach. We have been for the second time in the hotel - really friendly and helpful stuff, the hotel located exactly by the beach; we had all we needed for 3* hotel; many thanks to the owner!
