The owner was so warm and welcoming, and she gave us a real taste of Japanese culture by showing us around the charming town of Kinomoto, known for its soy sauce and sake. She speaks English, so it’s easy to learn about the town’s history and traditions. It is also a stone-throw away to the main city of Nagahama with a short train ride. The home was super comfortable and perfect for my family of four—it was such a special experience.

Abbiamo passato una notte rilassante in una tipica casa giapponese e al risveglio ci hanno offerto la colazione da loro preparata. Consigliatissimo.

Offering a garden and quiet street view, Guesthouse Shin is located in Omihachiman, 38 km from Sanzen-in Temple and 39 km from Mount Hiei. The house is clean, spacious, and nearby to most of the tourist attractions. The owner is very lovely, helpful and responsive. Will definitely stay here again when we visit Omihachiman.

Featuring a hot tub, くつき鯖街道 古民家cocco小入谷 一日一組貸切 is located in Takashima. The property features mountain and garden views, and is 37 km from Sanzen-in Temple. It’s a traditional Japanese cabin in the mountains. The shoji screens and the zen garden made it a really relaxing and cozy visit. One of my favorite accommodations through my journey in Japan. They have WiFi, and a modern toilet. The kitchen is a bit old and not up to modern standards but it works just fine. If you want a place away from the bustling cities, and really want to relax and also get a feel for an authentic Japanese cabin I can highly recommend it. Word of advice is to get food before you arrive as it is far from any stores, but I was informed of this before arrival so I had time to plan. The hostess was super friendly and very helpful It’s an old cabin and it shows, don’t expect a newly renovated house, but it gave it an authentic feeling. There’s also no AC, but with it being in the mountains and the shoji screens it didn’t get too hot at night. Also the insects make a lot of noise Wish I stayed more than one night

Great place to stay.Very clean. Amazing hospitality and really a nice place to stay that you won't regret.
