Staying here is just an incredible experience, the home is stunning and fun to explore, the views are great and the hosts are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our only wish is that we had stayed even longer.

Everywhere is clean & tindy. You can use Bose inside the room. Western breakfast is great. They have a private onsen and public onsen which is big and comfortable. They also have pick up service.

阿蘇び心 Asobi Gokoro, a property with a garden, is set in Aso, 41 km from Kumamoto Castle, 41 km from Suizenji Park, as well as 41 km from Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei. Yoshi was super friendly and helpful in giving tips and recommendations on places to eat, visit etc. Upon arrival I was given tea, a handmade map and a little lottery snack. I didn't win but was still gifted a snack bag. Sleeping area is upstairs in the building next door to the caravan and tent pictured. The place felt homey with all the little touches and details. I only stayed one night here but will recommend this place for those who want to experience living in ASO.

Wakka has mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, situated in Minami Aso, 31 km from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto. The breakfast (additional charge of 1200 yen per person) was so good and beats our expectation. You must have it if you are visiting. Need to send a message to them few days in advance to book it. The room spacy with great view! Has a small kitchen, microwave and small refrigerator in the room.

Located 1.8 km from Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei, Minshuku Hiroshimaya offers 2-star accommodation in Kumamoto and features a terrace. It was excelent, the hosts treated us incredibly well, they served us japanese dinner and breakfast. It's the perfect place to enjoy and experience a japanese traditional house.

Located in Kumamoto, Dyeing and Hostel Nakashimaya - Female Only provides 1-star accommodation with private terraces. Guests staying at this guest house have access to a balcony. This is hands down the best hostel I've ever stayed in. Genuinely, I would pick this hostel over a 5-star hotel any day. The room is large, comfy and well-equipped with a small table, tissues, travel guides etc. I LOVED the Kumamon dotted around the hotel, especially the Kumamon key chain and the Kumamon that will sit in the receptionist seat. Everything is so clean and tidy! The decorations of the hostel blew my mind, I genuinely had never seen such exquisite interior designs. The hostel even had a huge powder room, perfect for us ladies, and a huge common area with so much manga, a massage chair, games and even PCs! I would return to Kumamoto just to stay at this hostel again.

The guesthouse was clean, and comfortable with all the amenities you need. The location was very convenient, close to public transits and downtown Kumamoto, and the host was incredibly helpful. Highly recommend for a relaxing visit to Kumamoto!
