Irving House at Harvard, hotel in Cambridge

Located 755 feet from the famed Harvard University and set in the heart of Harvard Square, this charming guest house offers cozy accommodations, a delicious free daily breakfast and an on-site...

Stayed there visiting my son , who is a student there , so., the location close to campus was a blessing . The breakfast was significantly better than at the average BxB . The room ( Queen ) was wonderfully clean , and , while the whole place is very old style , it looks very well maintained . About parking : I parked in the beginning of the block - there is a shared parking lot by a different house , very spacious , did not risk fitting my suv into the narrow driveway by the Irving house . Would suggest to clarify the address for additional parking beforehand , so you won’t have to circle around the block . The front desk is wonderful : I had to extend my stay and they made all efforts to keep me in the same room , so I did not have move .

One bathroom. Having to share with other people. Was not able to take a shower, pee, or brush my teeth without someone in the bathroom. One person spent most of the morning on there and we had to leave to go pee.

It is only 7 min easy walking distance to Davis Square, so it has an ideal location if you have a student at Tufts University where you can use the shuttle at no cost. You can also take the Red Line to Boston City Center. The hotel does not offer breakfast (only tea and coffee) but across the street is Pemberton Market where you can find lots of different things to eat and drink. The area is quiet and safe.

A charming, little hotel in a Victorian house. It’s very quiet and close to Harvard square. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. Friendly staff, especially the lady. No breakfast, but there was tea and coffee, and a kitchen in the basement for making your own meal. Would absolutely come back. Good value.

Really nice hotel in a great location right opposite a train station. The room was really stylish and comfortable. The bed in particular was great and we got a good night’s sleep. Hotel was also very quiet. I read reviews saying the rooms were small, but I didn’t think so compared to the European hotels I’m used to.

We stayed in the centre of Boston at the start of our trip and slightly further our at Porter Square at the end of our trip before flying home. Porter square was my favourite as it was cheaper, opposite an excellent thai restaurant and quieter too. Lovely room and location very close to a metro stop to get you easily into the centre of the city.

Perfect location for my needs. It was about 20 min walk for me. The room was clean and I loved that I was in the hideaway, third floor section. For someone who always worried about door codes and not being able to open them - the process was super easy, I got emails with code and knew exactly what I needed to know. It was quiet as well and is a quite charming house. Also, complimentary water was a life saver in this heat. The other items i.e. chocolate bar and red wine I didn't care for but that's a personal preference. :)

Great location in a quiet street and walking distance from good restaurants, bars and shops. Loved the history and character of the building. The room we had was very spacious and had a nice aspect overlooking the courtyard.
