It was a very peaceful stay and Zhong Ming Ju Taoyi Fang. We got to experience local cuisine and fresh produce. We enjoyed chatting to the owners who are very educated and warm, friendly people.

Excellent and warm host. Delicious and homely dinner made with local/own grown produce. Host is available to fetch you from Shizhuo bus stop to the stay from 2PM onwards.
Unless you have a car, plan your visit to Shizhuo well and choose a stay close to the things you want to see as hike trailheads/ attractions can be far apart from each other. With that said there are enough interesting things near to this stay like the coffeeshop which offers regional beans and a decent hike!

It’s a lot more comfortable than you would expect from the pics. Lots of the slightly more negative feedback from the past reviews appear to have been rectified - which suggests a host who cares about their guests comfort. Eg small towels - have been replaced with more standard sized towels. There were mattress heaters in our 2 rooms which was fine for us in winter. There’s a small restaurant in the immediate adjacent neighbours compound - so food is available. Plus, the host graciously offers to take you to town and back for food if needed (NTD 100 one way). His vehicle can accommodate 5 passengers.
Bonus about their place is its at the higher end of the mountain - cloud trail starts literally around the corner. It’s a few hundred meters of walking up trail at the start - but after that, it’s all downhill linking all the different trails all the way to town. Real plus compared to starting in town and going UPHILL all the way.
Morning brekkie was delicious - hot scallion pancakes, fresh fruit and cherry tomatoes and tea on a crisp winter morning. Bliss.
