The location: pretty good location , within walking distance to Kek lo si (literally just beside), the morning pasar (road side market) is abit too crowded to walk along because of busy traffic in the morning. Overall very strategic location.

Very poor stay experience! I booked a room with a private bathroom, but upon arrival, I was told that the room type was fully booked, and the hotel gave me a cheaper room without a bathroom. It feels like a scam. Worse, other guests seemed to have encountered the same issue. The room facilities were terrible: the window leaked when it rained, and there was a noticeable bad smell in the room. To make matters worse, each room was separated by partitions, and the soundproofing was awful, making it extremely noisy at night, impossible to rest. Very disappointed with this hotel, not recommended.
it's ridiculous! the hotel confirmed my booking and chargedme, only to cancel my reservation on booking.com. it feels like they are trying to avoid bad reviews to protect their 5-star rating. if they don't want to accept booking.com through third-party platforms, they shouldn't list their property there. canceling after payment has been processed is irresponsible.
i hope other potential guests choose this hotel with caution.

Ren I Tang was a perfect place to stay for a true Penang experience. This beautifully renovated Chinese shop house was a joy, and we highly recommend a stay here. The staff was wonderful, kind, and knowledgeable. Our room was large and comfortable with both excellent a/c and ceiling fans. Wi-fi is super fast, hairdryer and bathroom amenities are provided. Filtered water is always available. Breakfast was extensive with a lot of options, including, most importantly, lots of fresh fruit.
The restaurant downstairs has many menu options, but there are plenty of good restaurants close by, including excellent vegetarian choices.
The location in Little India couldn't be better. The hotel is only a block away from the CAT free shuttle bus.

What a difference a staff that actually cares can make. This is a small place with only a few rooms that has not been renovated to cram as many beds as possible in tiny box rooms for maximum profit, but a very chill home with a great vibe and staff that make you feel like part of the family. King Arthur was so helpful and sweet during our stay. The free breakfast changed everyday and always some great local food, not just butter/toast/jam (which is also available 24/7) And of course the cats were sweet and nice to play with, and if you let them, they will sleep in your room with you to enjoy the AC. They had a groupchat to let everyone know what events were happening in town and recommendations for food or day trips. And as many would like to know, soft comfortable mattress and hot water!

The property is clean and well maintanined. Although it is pretty basic and the building is quite old but the property is cosy. The neighbourhood is quiet despite having MRT construction nearby and quite near to the area we were travelling to (we were travelling to Gelugor).
