Simple room, but with a very nice family. Shared the bathroom with some of the family it seemed. It was interesting to witness daily life here and see people working on the looms. They offer different workshops that you pay for. I did the tortilla making workshop. I also bought 2 of their beautiful tepetes (hand-made rugs).

There is a fully furnished indoor/outdoor kitchen at one's disposal. Huge covered patio with comfy seating, peaceful, quiet and serene setting. Loved the family, which does not live on the premises but are around if you need anything. Made me feel welcomed and included in their Dia de Muertos traditions and festivities, which is what they do for their guests if they so desire. I enjoyed the village very much which is about 45 minutes away from Oaxaca City. Bonus, Diana the lovely daughter always wears the traditional colorful flowered blouses and brightly colored skirts with long black hair braided with ribbon wrapped around her hair a la Frida Kahlo style.

We enjoyed our stay at Hostal Central Oaxaca so much!!! We stayed in a private room which was spacious and clean and comfortable. The common areas (especially the garden) were also inviting, clean and comfortable. The artwork throughout the hostal was interesting and reflective of the Oaxacan culture. All of the staff and volunteers were friendly and informative and welcoming. The breakfasts that were included were absolutely delicious and different every morning. We enjoyed many of the activities the hostal offered, as well as the company of the other guests. The hostal is about 6 blocks straight west of the Zocolo and was an easy and safe walk. We would definitely stay here again and after having stayed in many hostals over the years we feel this one is the best!

Very well located vintage Oaxacan house with high ceilings and courtyard, very lovely and not like a commercial hotel. Very attentive hosts.
For travelers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms might be shared by other guests, and there's usually shared space with the host.
At first I was worried about what kind of place it would be because it was so cheap, but it turned out to be a wonderful house with a very kind family. I was moved by the home of the indigenous people who have been making traditional Mexican fabrics for generations. You can experience sights and experiences that cannot be experienced at ordinary hotels. I definitely want to stay there when I go to Mexico again
