We like the
Japanese style room and private Onsen. The facilities are very new and clean, bed linen is very comfortable, staff are friendly and helpful.
We stayed for a night and the room, the service, the breakfast, the private bathroom was amazing, everyhing! It looks like they made a big remodeling but keeping the japanese cultural essence. We can't recommend enough to come and stay here in Toraya.

Lovely hotel overlooking Gero Onsen. We had only booked bed and breakfast, and our rooms were well appointed and spacious, with views overlooking Gero. The Japanese breakfast was plentiful and good quality. The public Onsen had inside and outside pools which were spacious and relaxing, and very quiet when we visited. There is also a spacious bar, where you can use the Karaoke. The service throughout our stay was excellent.
The staff was very friendly and helped carry our luggage to the second floor.
The room was quiet, nice and cozy, with everything we need.
The private bath was wonderful and worth every penny.

A really charming location, it is 10 stories but never feels overwhelming. Lovely view and garden. Efficient station shuttle. As someone else said, it could be from a Wes Anderson movie or a novel. Kaiseki dinner and breakfast are top notch. Onsen facilities are slightly past their prime but do the job, the open air baths are really special. Room in the annex was huge and had a great private bath. I asked the hotel to recommend a nice hike and they suggested one. Reception was really helpful after I sprained my ankle.
