Okamisan (owner) is so lovely and we enjoyed her home made dinner and breakfast. We’d like to come back to this Ryokan. Bus stop to Nozawa ski area is next to it, so it was convenient, too.

It had everything you needed. The toilets and showers were so clean at any time day or night. Breakfast for 500 yen was a great start to the day. Then you had dinner which was all you could eat which cost us around $30 Australian dollars for 2 adults. Our kids are free as they are under 6 years old. It had ski hire, free washing machine and dryer. Great location a short 5 minute walk to the main gondola to ski the mountains. The owner and staff were fantastic and very attentive and helped with everything we asked. Totally recommend

The owners take you places as it's far from everything, and were kind enough to come twice when I had missed my train station. The area is very beautiful and house nice. Stay was good.

Small onsen directly at the lodge. Though check-in was at 3 pm, I could enter my room already at noon! :) Lovely view of the mountains from my room on the 3rd floor!

Disclaimer this is only a recommendation for future customers. If you're not used to shared rooms I suggest you book their private rooms.
Mostly in shared rooms you will need to consider that sometimes you will have roommates that snores too loud, or too drunk in the midnight and you might have a hard time going to sleep. But of course sometimes that's the price we pay for choosing shared rooms. 😂🤣
Over all I would recommend this accomodation to stay for your trip in Kusatsu area especially those who on a budget. 😉👍
Happy exploring!

The offered breakfast for Y1,000 was fantastic. Filling and a range of Japanese breakfast offerings. Location was good, with a bus stop right on the corner of the hotel location. Bus could take us into the city centre or up to the snow lifts but stops at 5pm, keep that in mind. Host was fantastic, always friendly and helpful service.

A very spacious 'little lodge' with comfortable beds and a well-equipped bathroom. The owner was very kind and helpful and left us with some nice treats. The Hokusai museum is very interesting
For travellers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms may be shared by other guests, and there is often shared space with the host.
The rooms were beautiful. The staff incredibly attentive. And the private meals were amazing. Having our own Onsen in our room was a wonderful luxury. Though not extremely close to Nagano (an hour by train), the location is close to the train station to Nagano (a 10 minute walk) and very close to the Snow Monkey Park (a 15 minute ride) and mountain towns like Shibu. A lovely time - well worth the splurge.
A beautiful Onsen-Ryokan located in a quiet and tranquil area not too far from the Snow Monkey Park. The facilities are beautiful, especially the large spacious rooms with private onsens. The dinner was fantastic, and a great introduction to traditional, local Japanese cuisine. There are many rooms and quiet areas throughout the Ryokan to sit and relax. The staff were lovely and accommodating and we loved our visit.
Great budget rustic authentic experience. Ability to have a private onsen at the hotel as well as the hotels separate onsen. Hint- male side is heaps better than female side. Jealous. Proximity to snow monkeys , onsens and quaint onsen town all great. Not luxurious but rooms large
still great
Mr & Mrs Yumoto are wonderful hosts and the guest house has a great location near to the station and all the amenities. The room was very comfortable, and we were happy to have a private onsen experience on location. Our complementary trip to see the snow monkeys with the complementary use of snow boots was a complete bonus especially as the snow was melting and there was lots of mud but such an amazing experience and was a highlight of our trip. Another wonderful small town we so happy that we visited.
Beautiful boutique-feeling ryokan with really wonderful staff. We celebrated two birthdays and I was able to coordinate the delicious cakes over email. They even helped us take a photo and printed it out so we all had a little souvenir <3 So thoughtful! The rooms and building were lovely, as was the outdoor onsen. We did the private onsen experience too which was a little extra, but worth it especially to spend time with a partner. Food was tasty and yukatas were very pretty. Felt like a little dream.
The host was very friendly, and the hotel was good value, the breakfast,,while simple was also cheap and sufficient.
The ability to use the private outdoor Onsen was an opportunity not to be missed...as we had few a t views over the town at sunset.
Quaint cosy cottage amongst the fir trees. So pretty and furnished beautifully. Very clean and close to lifts and hotels for alternative eating out. Home cooked meals and 2x terrific private use mineral bath. Had choice of doona or blanket and temp perfect to sleep.
Great location, in the middle of the onsen town. Great vibe, two private onsens available. Traditional ryoken setup. Very easy to get to the snow monkeys from the accomodation.
