Beautiful ryokan style hotel, close to the main tourist information counter, but very quiet.
Inn had one small private onsen on site, but guests are allowed to use the onsen of the next door Ryokan Noshiyu at no additional cost, which has two larger public onsen and several smaller private onsen.

This is my favourite place to stay. You will need a car and if you do, it is so worth it. The lodge is located in a beautiful area. It is quiet, comfortable and cosy. At night you can hear the owls and see the stars. The breakfast is clean, healthy and delicious. This is better than any five star hotel. There is even a private bath to soak in. The owner takes great pride in the place and prepares his meals with care and attention. I am so glad we stayed here for 4 nights. If we come to Aso again, I will not stay anywhere else.

The landlady may be strict on rules (a lot of them), but she was so kind as to let us check in upon arrival at 1pm, even picked us up from the station (her proposal, not our request).
Guests respected the rules: the place was full but quiet.
The room was definitely bigger than the 7m2 announced, quite spacious in fact, a nice surprise.
We did not use the shower but went to the public onsen near the station, a really nice place with indoors bath, outdoors bath and chill area, sauna and cold water bath.
For travellers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms may be shared by other guests, and there is often shared space with the host.

This is not your typical ryokan but a modern one where nobody will wake you up at 7am for breakfast. Here, you can (almost) sleep as you please. 9 bungalows for 9 rooms. Each room has its own private onsen, one indoor and the other outdoor, in addition to the bigger "public" one. Staff is great. Dinner is superb, and so is breakfast. It's far, a bit remote but you must go for a peaceful and very charming moment.
Enjoyed the quaint garden path along the river on the property. There were many baths (with great water quality), some of which are private, but with no extra charge. The outdoor pools were heavenly, one of which was by the riverside and a waterfall view. The room was clean and huge with two very comfortable twin beds and a balcony. The Japanese-style breakfast was great, although if one wants a western style, it may be a problem. The service was impeccable. You couldn’t ask for more pleasant and helpful staff.
The location is separated from the town,so it's very quiet at night. BF an dinner were impressive. There are private onsen, indoor and outdoor public onsen. It 's not crowded at all.
Private onsen in room with free parking. Away from the main Kurokawa onsen area so was quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the beautiful surrounding with autumn foliage.
