If you want a really original experience, this is your place. Staying at Toranjyo-lit feels like your Japanese Grandmother invited you in. I really liked the charm of the house. Staff was very friendly and especially great in communication through messages. Everything is put down very carefully and thoughtfully, you can lend a lot of things (kimonos for the house, towels, hot warer bottel,….). In the kitchen I could prepare tea and food. They even sell some soup and snacks. The vegan options surprised me and were VERY welcome!! The room was spacious and very beautiful. The garden is very original and meditative with a great view over the city. If you want to take day trips to either of the art islands, it’s the perfect place. The ferry is just 15 min away and the staff will explain everything very nicely.

Torii-kuguru has a great vibe. It’s warm and inviting. Very low key and chill. The people are friendly and super helpful. The location is on an old fashioned shopping street with great food, coffee, and much more. Vintage clothes, vinyl, organic groceries and all kinds of independent shops. Great location for exploring Okayama.

Easy check in , great location for sightseeing, and lots of places within walking distance. Helpful staff, loads of complimentary items to top up with , comfy and quiet . Highly recommend
Great location, walking distance of few minutes from train station and close to the historic city centre. We have booked two rooms. Rooms were spotlessly clean and with all amenities one needs. We loved the onsen.
Loved and truly enjoyed our stay!
Great location, everything and more you would want and need is provided at the machiya.
Breakfast and fresh fruits were provided upon arrival.
The place is clean, beautifully decorated and attended to with care :)
Thank you for everything, we really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back one day.
Great location few minutes walk from Kurashiki historial quarter. Private parking is not available, but you can use public parking which is just next to the hotel (for one night stay from 5pm to 10am we paid 1300 yens). Super easy self check in. Nice kitchennette with facilities like plates, cups, pan, chopsticks and microwave. Also big bathroom. Big plus for cleanliness.
great location - very close to the Bikan historical quarter and fairly close to the station. it’s also off street quiet . Their inclusion of a complimentary high tea was a nice touch. Very generous of them.
