I slept better here than I do at my own home; it's just that cozy. As others have stated more eloquently, Morio and his wife are incredibly hospitable and cognizant of the most minor of details. This ryokan has the sort of charm that I thought could only be found in rural Japan these days.

We traveled around Japan for a month, and this was one of the best places we stayed. It’s in a great location for exploring Arashiyama. The room was clean and cozy with comfortable futons. The host was so kind and even left coffee and snacks as a gift. Highly recommend!

The shower and room was very nice and spacious. It was very clean. There was clear instructions for the toilet and the kitchen area in English for us to understand. The staff was very kind! The staff even helped us book our dinner reservation in Japanese. The host also spoke English and/or Chinese. There was a washer available for our use.
For travelers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms might be shared by other guests, and there's usually shared space with the host.
The staff were amazing. We felt very spoilt and it was very restful. The private onsen was unrivalled. The meals were an absolute highlight - being able to experience traditional Japanese style. Attention to detail was amazing.
The staff is lovely and accomodating. Both the private bath, public onsen and private onsen are refreshing and outdoors. The food is amazing and the portions were great. Very quiet location and rooms feel very private.
Most of the property is beautiful, the traditional rooms were really pretty. The private onsen was spectacular, we really enjoyed it. The amenities in the rooms and bedding were great. The shuttle service from and to the train station was highly appreciated.
The outdoor onsen was quite pleasant. It was just us when we went to the onsen so in a way it was like our own private onsen. The futon was very comfortable. The shampoo was really nice smelling and the experience when we were waiting for our rooms to be made was pleasant.
The room was great, like a suite, private Onsen overlooking the garden. The free tea, coffee and ice cream in the communal area was a nice touch. Personal service was excellent
It looks new and modern but they found the way to keep the tradition japanese atmosphere inside the hotel. There fountains with koi, zen gardens, kabuki mask on the walls illuminated by traditional japanese lamps.
The tatami rooms have everything you can ask for a complete experience in a ryokan, in particular if you get the one with the private bath.
Food is simply delicious.
Amazing building and setting, blend of traditional with all modern comforts. fascinating place to explore, we had a great stay. loved the private outdoor bath, so relaxing. Dinner and breakfast both delicious and a worthwhile experience for tourists in Japan. Staff friendly 😊
