I liked how warm the guest room was. The heater was running for most of the evening, which meant that despite the cool temperatures in the morning, where we slept was comfortable and warm. I also liked waking up to the sound of birdsong. It was truly a beautiful place all things considered. Also, the host was very kind: he sat down with us to explain the best hot springs, the best places to get dinner/breakfast, etc.

The authentic dining and private bath experience, and staying in a property that was apparently a couple of hundred years old belonging to a samurai. A pleasant walk to the property from Aso station surrounded by the Aso mountains and through a quiet Japanese village is memorable.
The hotel is in the golf resort, located near the west Aso mountain. It is about 10 min driving distance from the downtown train station and 30 min from the Aso summit. Great location if you want to seek a quiet and peaceful experience in winter.
Bath hall is at the separate building, the hot spring is definitely a must-visit.
Breakfast and dinner buffet are nice. A little pricy but worthwhile.
Charming ryōkan (even if iit is a minshuku….) with beautiful private baths. The dinner and the breakfast were both delicious and generous with local specialities. Very convenient to explore Aso and the region. We have been lucky to find a room here.
The property was in a quiet location and quaint. The property was clean and had all the amenities. This location is good if you have a vehicle. The convenience store is close by for food. A short drive to Mt Aso and restaurants.
it was a very quaint but spacious hostel with great and ample facilities. Easy luggage storage, not far from anywhere (train station, onsen, Lawson)
staff were great too and so was the kitchen with complimentary spices, cooking oil and tea.
even had a cheaper ticket to the (also exceptional) onsen
It was a lovely traditional Japanese style hotel.
Especially, it was super awesome to be able to reserve the room with the private hot springs in the balcony.
It was not cheap, but it was definitely worth paying for as my wife and I could get into hot springs at any time we wanted.
The staff was very polite, and the room was comfortable.
It was nice to be able to choose different designs of yukata lobe.
The breakfast buffet was very nice as it had many different varieties of food.
We highly recommend to experience this beautiful place.
Large family room with a beautiful, outdoor private onsen. Good fridge. Plenty of space. Good sitting area. Fantastic buffet breakfast - one of the best I have experienced - with both Japanese & Western options. Public seating area, personal kimonos, public onsen, private parking, shop with local products. This resort is mainly used by Japanese families - we were the only Westerners staying - but everything was calm & quiet.
