Doorstep to the Burren, hotel in Gort

Doorstep to the Burren offers accommodations in Gort, 22 miles from Galway Greyhound Stadium and 23 miles from Eyre Square.

It was essentially a student hostel. It wasn't easy to find. If we didn't speak English and had to make a phone call, I don't know how we would have found it. The room was incredibly small, the bed was even smaller and very uncomfortable. There were two bathrooms in the hallway; one was particularly well-equipped, and both were modern and clean. The kitchen is located on the ground floor and is impressively well-equipped and clean, making it excellent for those who want to prepare their own dinner. It was strange to see the contrast between the common areas and the room. Our room was quiet because it didn't face the street; I don't know if all of them are like that. There was a grocery store and an Aldi within walking distance. The town of Gort is very depressing and run-down.

Josephine (the host) is the best!!! So welcoming, funny and nice! We had a really good time with her. Breakfast is great, room tiny but tidy and clean and really nice. The place is lovely and there is an interesting and beautiful and charming historical site, Kilmacdaugh, on the other side of the road. Josephine gave us as a farewell gift delicious chocolate sweets that she made herself. You can reach Gort in less than 10 minutes by car. We really loved to meet Josephine and her husband! Recommended!

Well located. Nice and charming house near the Burren. Josephine is very welcoming, helpful and easy going. We were delighted to meet her and her husband. They gave us tips and advices to find a restaurant and to have a wonderful time by the cliffs of Moher. The room is quiet and confortable with a view on the Burren. The breakfast was perfect as well. We were treated like Kings and we'll keep wonderful memories of our stay at Josephine's house. Thanks again. Cheers. Xavier and Tiphaine.

Josephine is a charming, friendly and helpful host and does her best to make you feel at home. Like others already stated: directly next to a landmark (Kilmacduagh Abbey/Monastery with round tower). The room I was in was tasteful, beautiful, clean, and comfortable. It had a small private bathroom. The shower pressure is amazing, by the way.

Josephine made me a fresh fruit salad most days and a cooked breakfast once or twice. Both were really good start to the day. It's a great location and I used it as a base to see The Burren, go to the Aran Islands, visit family near Ennis, shop in Galway. Coole Park which is near Gort was a beautiful place to walk. There were lovely walks around the roads near the BnB too and I enjoyed my hour of morning walk along the stone-fenced roads usually only observed by the cows!
