St Duthus Villa Guesthouse, hotel in Tain

Housed in a historic building, the recently renovated St Duthus Villa Guesthouse offers accommodation with a terrace and free WiFi.

I can confirm all the positive reviews of St Duthus Villa. We stayed for one night and the accommodation was clean, quiet and comfortable. We were in room 3, which had a nice view over the garden. The B&B is a little unusual because the owners do not live in the house – so the house has guests only. There are four rooms available. Some reviewers have complained about the breakfast, but I don’t see why. Cooked breakfasts can be a little over the top. What we did have was an excellent assortment of cereals, breads, croissants, fruit, yoghurt, coffee, tea and so on. There is also good off-street parking. We had a nice meal at the train station, which was only a few mnute's walk awy. Highly recommended.

Outstanding stay! Beautiful location with lovely views. Gorgeous room with modern bathroom. We opted to eat dinner there and it was very high quality - local ingredients and professional standard. Breakfast had lots of options - including vegetarian - and was absolutely delicious.

Great location in the town. Only a couple of minutes from a tesco store and two petrol stations close by. (Tesco and Asda). Several establishments close by for evening meals. The property was clean, the rooms large and well equipped. Private car park with plenty of space. Large choice of breakfast items (including veggie options) which we ordered the night before. Small library with some local books and general reading.Very welcoming and great value.

Very quaint and charming room, well decorated and very friendly hostess. You have a kitchenette with everything you need, large comfortable bed and a living room area to sit in in the evenings. Love the horses outside as well. Inver is a gorgeous little village with a beautiful beach. You can see the stars in the night sky more vividly than usual as its so sparsely populated. Lovely vibe and friendly folk around the area.

The hotel itself is utterly charming! Superbly located and quiet. I have read reviews that say it’s dated - it is a little bit but that merely adds to its charm! My double room was super clean, comfortable and well equipped! The food was lovely. However the most outstanding thing about this great hotel is the family who run it! Honestly the welcome is home from home. Nothing is too much trouble. Genuinely the Royal Hotel is worth the stay and we will be back often!
