The Ferry Boat Inn, hotel in Purleigh

Located in North Fambridge, in a historic building, 24 km from Chelmsford Train Station, The Ferry Boat Inn is a bed and breakfast with a garden and bar.

Staff and building were lovely room clean but would have made sure I booked a room where I could be sure dogs were not allowed as I am allergic to them. I think dogs are lovely but I think they should be supervised properly by their owners and the owners should be made aware of this by staff.

B&B Downham Hall, hotel in Purleigh

Featuring a garden and views of garden, B&B Downham Hall is a bed and breakfast situated in a historic building in Wickford, 14 km from Hylands Park.

The meals were very good and there was a lot of flexibility for dietary requirements / fussy children - some meals for the kids were off-menu and build around their preferences. The location is really nice too - lovely Georgian building.

We absolutely loved this little place. So tranquil and peaceful and just perfect for a relaxing stay. Very well equipped with so many little extras which came in really handy and we very much appreciated. Karen’s communication you just couldn’t fault. A lovely private outside seating area. The three goats 🐐 🐐 🐐 were gorgeous and friendly too. We actually could have stayed forever. Would love to stay again if we are down in that area visiting our family.
