The Salmon Inn, hotel in Galashiels

The staff were brilliant when I arrived in the buzzing, packed pub in the middle of the Scotland-Italy rugby match. I said I could see how busy they were and that there was no rush, but I was checked in and shown to my room right away, with a kind offer to carry my bag. The room was lovely, spacious and comfortable, with some fab quirky touches. Getting in and out of the building was simple and I felt very safe when I came back late that night. The bed was super-comfy and I slept soundly right through, which I almost never do. I have already booked to come back :)

The owner Sonny was very welcoming and helpful, and the house and garden is lovely. A few minutes walk into Selkirk, yet very quiet, made it a great location. Sonny directed us to a great walking area within 5 minutes walk, which was very picturesque. We did not have dinner, but it smelled delicious.

Kilmuir was clean and extremely well equipped in every room; kitchen, lounge/dining and bedrooms. The owners had provided abundant information on the house (appliances etc) and the local area (restaurants, facilities and attractions). The house was in a great location; just off the main trunk road between local towns and Edinburgh but in a quiet private drive. It is difficult to fault the property in any way.
