Loved the location, quiet and peaceful. Our room was simple, but comfortable. Although no formal breakfast was offered ( we were aware of this prior to booking) the kitchen area was fully stocked for us to help ourselves when even we wanted. The host was very friendly and most helpful in planning our adventure for the day. We were very happy with our stay and would definitely return

The Wayside and Whisky Barn, hotel in Barrow in Furness

The Wayside and Whisky Barns is located on the South West coast of the Lake District National Park at the base of Black Combe and 3 miles from Silecroft beach.

The Wayside & Whisky Barn ticked all the boxes. First class service, super comfortable beds, a beautiful roaring log fire in our bedroom and of course an amazing selection of over 150 whiskies. Not forgetting the delicious breakfasts with fresh home baked breads, plus we had a fantastic 3 course meal followed by Irish coffees on the Saturday night, total perfection. We will definitely be back soon.

Fond memories of our night at the Engine Inn. Mostly of the cheeky bartender and a couple on a getaway weekend. (Babs, you know i'm talking about you!) Food was great, company was great. Together with family, it was a good night in Holker!!

The site is tucked away but once you turn the corner it’s like you are in a completely different place. It’s quiet / private and a really beautiful spot. The host Gavin was amazing, we even asked to stay another night which he accommodated straight away. The site is clean and the facilities are excellent. Great for couples but also for kids. Would definitely recommend :-)
