Great location for exploring the Trossachs - Lake of Mentieth, Loch Katrine, Callander all special and worth visiting. Good food at the Lion and Unicorn in Thornhill and Nick's nearby. Our host and Hamish were excellent as was breakfast.

Peaceful, unique and wonderful. Where else will you find rescue racing pigeons and rescue geese? The pig and highland cows are just gorgeous. The hot tub is a real treat, especially as we were walking the West Highland Way.

Lovely guesthouse situated in beautiful surroundings and Stefano was a fantastic host. We could not serve breakfast because of the early flight we had to catch and we woke up to a bag with sandwiches, fruit, juice and sweets at the door. ❤️

Great location. Very quiet and peaceful. Food, evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Alison and all the staff were exceptional hosts. Would definitely recommend Altskeith to anyone who is going to this area. We will be going back.

Also, the self catering apartments were roomy and comfortable, and the private sauna was a real surprise, and treat.

They were extremely helpful and quick to communicate with my request for an early check in. Provided me with the taxi number for a local driver. Allowed my friend to stay with me with no notice at no extra cost and even gave him a full breakfast without additional charge.
