The location was very picturesque. It was in a quiet area without much traffic. There were a few other people also staying at the house but we didn't hear much from anyone, except from when they went to the kitchen (our room was right next to it). The host was very pleasant and super patient with me, despite my comprehension skills having depleted over the long journey we overtook to arrive at the house. The house itself wasn't very large, but having come from Tokyo the room was a huge step up. It was a nice mix of traditional and modern. The room was fairly big with plenty of room for everything we needed, and the AC was very strong. The host provided us with lots of towels, as long as toothbrushes and a hairdryer. There was tea and coffee available to use as well as drinks in the fridge (200¥ each). We only stayed one night in Takayama and we honestly regret it. We definitely see ourselves coming back to Guesthouse Hinode. So far it was by far the best accomodation we've stayed in in Japan. And there's still so much in the area we didn't get to see! I would absolutely recommend this location in a heartbeat! Apologies for the bad photos, they're screenshots of a video I took.

駅からも近く、観光でまわるにも良い立地でした。建物施設は古さはあるもののきれいにされており、お得に利用できました。

Amazing location between the bus station/train station and the old town, close to lots of restaurant options. Incredibly clean (the shower absolutely sparkled!) and spacious for two people. Sleeping in the loft was quite warm in July, even with the AC on, but that is no fault of the property, just something to note. We really appreciated having a washer/dryer! Detergent was already preloaded in the machine, so we didn’t need our own.

Superb little apartment in the centre of Takayama. The Japanese style room was great, the tatamis as well as the futons comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped although we did not really need it and the washer+dryer a welcome bonus for a quick refreshing of our clothes in the middle of our journey. The location in town is great, very convenient to reach the train and bus station as well as the old town.

Amazing experience in a traditional house (Ryokan) with great welcoming from the staff and great services (fireplace in the room, yakuta dressing/rental, matcha tea, etc) The breakfast is amazing with a lot of different local products and with Hida beef. You are full for the day after that ! The onsen in wood is very nice and clean. The traditional room is beautiful and very cosy !

Perfect location for walking at Kamikochi (5 minute walk to bus terminal), peaceful, well organised. Ping pong table was a lot of fun :) Free bikes to borrow, e-bike rental and e-scooter rental w helmets as well (mountainous terrain).

We visited Takayama as part of our honeymoon trip and Jackson went out of his way to make us feel welcome at the Iori Lounge & Spa studio apartment! Great location near the old town, spacious room & nice private bath (automatic functions that fill the bath + maintain the temperature, so luxurious!), pajamas, good breakfast, nice amenities.

For me, the location was perfect. A short walk from the station and bus stop and about 10 mins from the main sights. Ideal for my short stay. The room was more like a small apartment. For longer stays, the kitchen, washing machine and small balcony machine will be great. Very comfortable bed, nice amenities. You can use the onsen of the nearby sister-hotel. This was lovely after a long day walking in the snow. All in all a great stay.
