It was a very roomy place, especially for Japan. We invited some local friends over for a long lunch for example. Complete kitchen, big refrigerator, made entertaining easy. Comfortable bathroom facilities, excellent hot water, free parking quiet neighborhood but not too remote. I recommend it for any 2 or 4 family people who want to stay in the area.

Very cosy, comfortable hotel with very friendly staff. It’s in a quieter part of Kyoto, away from the bustling crowds, took me 15 mins walk to Nishiki market.
Higashiyama station is 5 mins walk. Loved walking the neighbourhood - Gion Shirakawa was 10 mins, very picturesque walk.
Very comfortable beds, has fully functional kitchen, we made dinner and breakfast using lovely local produce.

We spent 6 nights at this lovely comfortable apartment and it was perfect. Spacious, private, very modern kitchen/bathrooms and in a great location walkable to many of Kyoto’s incredible sites. Takase-San was super helpful while we were there and even helped us get reservations for a restaurant one evening. We highly recommend Komatsu Residences!

Great location, felt very traditional. Futon beds were very comfortable. We are large and the house definitely felt small, but that's to be expected for a traditional house. Host very helpful.

We have been thoroughly impressed by this property! Every detail was EXCELLENT! Yutaka was an exceptional host and just a wonderful person! We felt bad because our Japanese is terrible and Yutaka was great at communicating with us in English. The apartment is clean and modern - everything you need is available - from washer/dryer to iron, and hot water kettle. I wish we stayed longer! The entire experience made us feel welcomed and cozy! I did not want to leave! The location is amazing and everything was walkable to important landmarks where we took photos of the temples, to restaurants that fill our belly with such savory meals.
For travelers who appreciate a space of their own at the end of the day, an apartment or flat is the perfect home away from home. Furnished rooms and kitchen facilities give groups and families the flexibility to enjoy downtime separately or plan the next day’s activities over a shared meal. Often available for short and long-term.
The staff really exceeded our expectations. Everyone seemed invested in us enjoying our stay. Our room was fabulous, it was like a mini apartment with a spectacular view. I had so much fun wearing the different yukata. Dinner in the private dining area was beautiful and the service was excellent.
We felt immersed in the Japanese culture and this was a wonderful place to relax.
We stayed in a room with a private mineral bath. The room was as large as an apartment, with its own foyer, and areas that could be contained by beautiful screen doors. We loved the space, the views and the wonderful service, but especially the food and the ritual of having our own private dining space, which evidently goes with the ‘special’ rooms. This is a great place to unwind, leaving the rest of the world behind! Staff were beyond excellent! If the canal boat is running its a great excursion to take. Food was just superb.
Clean, modern, small apartment with all facilities and a washing machine. Also a nice small patio and garden. Staff very supportive. Easy walk to a train station. There is a parking space available. Very good value.
Great view of lake biwa with bright lightings. Our disability access room has 2 recliner beds, which made it easy for our wheelchair access traveller to sit up and lie down without any help and issues!
What’s not to like… we had the best room in the ryokan, super spacious room, had a huge bathroom, shower and a private open air onsen.
We had a living room and a bedroom, the space we had was probably bigger than our apartment back home!
Dinner and breakfast was beautifully presented, I literally was so relaxed I lost myself there. Wish I booked it for more than one night!
Huge room size and the bed is just facing towards the lake. The view is magnificent. Breakfast is great with lots of food option. Bike rental available (normal bike & electric bike). The hotel also provide shuttle bus service to Otsu Station (3 bus every hour). The Pier is just few steps from hotel and they offer 20% off for cruise ticket.
Very wide studio room with amenities just enough for travelers. But get your own toiletries- toothbrush and paste, etc.
The room was clean and no bad odors.
The futon and sleeping sheets were clean and comfortable. I had a very good sleep after a long day of hiking.
The building also offers an onsen for guests for free (I didn't try, so can't comment about it).
The staff at the lobby was very accommodating, polite, and helpful. Thank you very much!
