Hayden and Saki were phenomenal hosts. Hayden picked us up from Madarao Kogen hotel and took us to the lodge. Once we settled in, he shuttled us to Tangram Ski Circus to rent our gear and check out the slopes/hotel. Once we were done there, he came back and shuttled us all back to the lodge. He continued throughout our entire weekend to shuttle us as needed to the Tangram Ski Circus.
There is a lift located about 5 minutes walking distance from the lodge which connects to the Tangram Ski Circus and runs until 4:00pm. Hayden also provides snowboarding lessons, which we took advantage of, and he was great with our kids. My son was a little more advanced so Hayden took him on the lift for a couple of runs down the slope.
The breakfast there is great! They offer a hot plate along with an assortment of cereal/oats and yogurt, homemade bread and jams, and of course, coffee, juice and water.
The log house is rather spacious and very cozy. They have a 3 burner stove, microwave and a decent sized fridge/freezer. The bedroom is on the first floor with 2 beds and the loft on the second floor has 5 beds with 3 additional mattresses available. We brought our own food to cook but The White Tree Lodge offers a menu if you choose to not bring food to cook.
Overall, we completely enjoyed our time there and plan on returning next year. I want to thank Hayden and Saki for being such gracious hosts and providing exceptional hospitality.

The apartment was gorgeous!! Super new and super clean. They also gave us free transport to 4 ski resorts. You have to make your own way back thou. the nearest bus stop is 300-400m away and its downhill to the property. so its not so bad.

House was situated in a quiet neighbourhood. The first evening I arrived at the house, I saw a wild life cat metres away from me. Saw a similar species the next evening.
Entire unit was cosy and big enough to accommodate my family of 5. The washing machine and dryer unit provided means we do not need to pack as many sets of clothes for the whole trip. I would like to come back in future when there is snowfall. This time round we were too early.
For travelers who appreciate a space of their own at the end of the day, an apartment or flat is the perfect home away from home. Furnished rooms and kitchen facilities give groups and families the flexibility to enjoy downtime separately or plan the next day’s activities over a shared meal. Location, overlooking the gondola, in the snow, the absolute definition of ski in and out yet walking distance to restaurants. Excellent staff, Japanese family owned and operated, common area drying room. helpful on bookings, passes, transport, rentals. The real life images are better. Rooms much bigger than described.
Staff/reception friendliness and willingness to help with even the smallest thing. Wonderful, clean and modern apartment. Great central location in Akakura town.
Great Ryokan with delicious food and welcoming host family! They will help you with anything you need, including ski pass discount and a drive to the rental shop. I will definitely stay here again if I come back to the area.
The location is great. It is not a ski-in ski-out location but it is just a street over to the lift and gondola. The shuttle bus is also just across the street so very convenient. Even getting rental is just downstairs.
Other than being too busy to give us a ride from and to the train station, the staff were very accommodating and helpful with everything else. We had a great stay.
The bed was fantastic. It was like laying on clouds. Natural onsen was a plus too. The location is very convenient close to the ski lifts ans rental shops. STAFF was very helpful.

- Carlo was really flexible in doing a concierge service to get us to other local resorts and the train station which was really helpful and cheaper than the taxi!
Breakfast was a good combination of Japanese and Western. Location was good, easy to walk to the slopes/shuttle bus stop. It was great that the hotel provided snow boots at the entrance. It was also useful to have a rental shop and ski school in the hotel, even though we didn't use those services. The shuttle bus to the train station was convenient.
