The Host was very responsive to all my inquiries, which was great. And the milk and breakfast goodies were very much appreciated!! The unit is very spacious, and the kitchen was well- equipped, so it was easy to cook our meals. The main attractions on Orkney are all relatively close - about 15-45 minutes depending on where you are going-since the Island is not that big. We liked the location because it was a beautiful drive to get there and was near the water and St. Margaret's Hope for the ferry. You can also walk to the Sands Hotel, which was a great place to have dinner. Our only challenge was that the host sent pictures of where the lockbox for the keys were so I knew it was on a post, but it was a bit hard to tell what unit ours was, and I'm not sure I would have found the lockbox without the help of the neighbor. A better narrative description of which unit was ours and where the lock box is- right across from the door- would have helped.

Amazing apartment, very spacious and clean, great for a family. Fully equipped with everything including washing machine and tumble dry. Very convenient if you arrive by ferry from Gills to St. Margaret's Hope. We had an amazing 5 days here, very recommended.

The lodge was very well designed & fitted out a very high spec. It was extremely comfortable, clean & warm. It had everything you need for a self catering holiday. The bed was very comfortable & the shower very powerful & hot. The owners have gone that extra mile to make the lodge very welcoming. Its location is 15mins from ferry terminal at St. Margarets Hope & well positioned for touring the wonderful island of Orkney.

For this town it was a good choice though I was not clear on what “self catering” means, my problem. Everything worked fine and the place is obviously very new. It is managed by the Murray Arms hotel and bar/restaurant which was great fun at night and the scallop chowder was nice.
For travelers who appreciate a space of their own at the end of the day, an apartment or flat is the perfect home away from home. Furnished rooms and kitchen facilities give groups and families the flexibility to enjoy downtime separately or plan the next day’s activities over a shared meal. Often available for short and long-term.
The property has fantastic views from every window - of which there are plenty.
The flat is spacious, light and airy, with sloping roofs giving it a wow factor. It is well equipped and we were very appreciative of the lovely treats, milk and cereal left for us!
A very comfortable and well equipped flat. We liked the equipment in the kitchen and the added milk and coffee etc. we liked the excellent wifi and being able to stream on the tv. We liked the shower. We loved the location.

We stayed in Watersound - perfect apartment-like room with 2 bedrooms, living room and big bathroom. The Sands team are superfriendly, at check-in and all around. And breakfast is good - proper eggs and all. The views of the sound are beautiful.
Everything to like. The location was great - very peaceful; partial but still lovely sea views (see photo); very handy for a beach and dog exercise; lovely pub/restaurant in village 5 mins walk away; Kirkwall less than 20 mins drive away; less than 10 minutes from St Margaret's Hope ferry arrival / departure. Apartment also very comfortable and cozy (this was February). Very speedy internet. We also had a staggering amount of sunshine!
