The view onto the bay through the window was breathtaking. The apartment was fully equipped and everything was state-of-the-art. And clean. It was furthermore extremely cozy. It really felt like home. I shall certainly return to this place for another stay but this time for a minimum of 5 days.

Very comfortable accommodation with everything you can possibly need readily available.
Loanside Lodge is warm, clean and spacious. It is conveniently located just a few miles from Kirkwall and therefore enables easy exploration of the whole of mainland Orkney.
The hosts are very friendly and helpful...the welcome pack is great and having the added bonus of use of the 'Contigo' thermal travel mugs made our picnics out and about in January very comfortable too, especially whilst watching out for whales and dolphins - we got lucky and caught sightings of Killer Whales in Hoy Sound /Scapa Flow and again at Yesnaby.
There are many useful guide books and maps the guests here can have use of... all in all it's a real gem of a cottage and we will look forward to our next stay at Loanside.

Great location near the ferry, with nearby on street parking. The staff were super-friendly and helpful. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was quiet. I slept VERY well. The hostel is attached to a hotel with a great seafood restaurant. St Margaret's Hope itself is a lovely place and the local area is astoundingly beautiful. Kirkwall is less than a half hour drive away.
For the travellers who appreciate a space of their own at the end of the day, an apartment or flat is the perfect home away from home. Furnished rooms and kitchen facilities give groups and families the flexibility to enjoy downtime separately, or plan the next day’s activities over a shared meal. Often available for short and long-term.
The property has fantastic views from every window - of which there are plenty.
The flat is spacious, light and airy, with sloping roofs giving it a wow factor. It is well equipped and we were very appreciative of the lovely treats, milk and cereal left for us!
A very comfortable and well equipped flat. We liked the equipment in the kitchen and the added milk and coffee etc. we liked the excellent wifi and being able to stream on the tv. We liked the shower. We loved the location.
Very nice self contained apartment with kitchen, accessible bathroom, bedroom and seating area.
Good number of small pieces for cooking such as oil, salt and pepper, spices etc.
Nice bed with additional throw and towels.
We stayed in Watersound - perfect apartment-like room with 2 bedrooms, living room and big bathroom. The Sands team are superfriendly, at check-in and all around. And breakfast is good - proper eggs and all. The views of the sound are beautiful.
Everything to like. The location was great - very peaceful; partial but still lovely sea views (see photo); very handy for a beach and dog exercise; lovely pub/restaurant in village 5 mins walk away; Kirkwall less than 20 mins drive away; less than 10 minutes from St Margaret's Hope ferry arrival / departure. Apartment also very comfortable and cozy (this was February). Very speedy internet. We also had a staggering amount of sunshine!
