Bremen is a lovely little city for a short stop over -- I would think you could achieve everything in a busy day and the same in a slightly relaxed 2 days. The city centre is compact, and has certain charm around the old town.
As a native of Hamburg, Bremen had never been seriously on my radar, which was a mistake. It is a fantastic city with a beautiful historic centre and cathedral definitely worth a visit. It also has a world-class music festival, which was the main reason for my visit.
Bremen is a city with loads to see. I wish I could have had another day! but beware where you stay, as it could make a real difference to pleasurable time. history, architecture and art was why I went and the city does not disappoint.
Bremen is always charming to visit. As I have been there few times and always liked pace of the city. Its quite easy to commute around. Many restaurants. But mostly I have noticed Turkish restaurants. Most places can be accessible via public transport.
There is a lot of sites to see and tours to places like the Mercadies factory, brewery's, Churches, the city market place for fresh foods, and it is the birth place of the Bremen Stat Musicians (Grimms fairy tales)
I like Bremen very much. I think it is a nicer city than Hamburg. Bremen has a slower phase, people are not so stressed in Bremen. The city center with it's old buildings are very Nice - contains a lot of history. I would recommend first one visitors, to read about the Hansan - before their visit. This will give an understanding, why the people here are so Rich! ;-)
