Lovely city/ town. Have been here before so things to do a bit limited. Major issue is what to do for food when there is a public holiday or hours are reduced eg Sundays. We wanted to use our travel cared but had nothing to do and very little options for food on a public holiday. One of the castles does not provide much information online so we didn’t go. Online information is critical for decision making. I think Innsbruck needs to develop a few more tourist activities for those too old to ski:)
Innsbruck is a beautiful city with fascinating architecture and some of the most breathtaking views of the Tyrol. Its location to two different cable car routes and the Bergisel ski lift allowed us to get a bird's eye view of the city while enjoying Sacher Torte and hot chocolate. Dining options were varied and excellent. Try to time your visit around the times the cable cars are open and/or during the Christmas markets. Innsbruck is a wonder all year round with hiking, biking, walking, skiing and so many opportunities for exploring.
One of the lovely city I ever seen. Lack of the see sights. Swarovski Kristallwelten 25 minutes from center. Local food, adorable people, fantastic view from 2,3km mountain. Of course, Christmas mood on Chrisstkindlmarkt what could be better?
Lovely City. I recommend the Innsbruck card we got 48 hour pass and visited The top of Innsbruck by cable car to see amazing views and lunch at Seegrube. The alpine zoo was nice on the way down. The palace, The Gold roof. Lumimagic and Bergasel ski jump we got the tram was all included in the pass so well worth it.
The people of Innsbruck are so friendly and helpful. The views are incredible. This is a town not to be missed when visiting Austria. We felt very safe and welcomed. Dont miss out on the cable car to the very top of Nordkette; the views of the mountain range are breathtaking
Wow, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!! We spent a couple of days in Innsbruck and have fallen in love with it. The town is beautiful, clean and feels safe. There are a number of gluten free options in town and the place is small and flat so very walkable. We took the cable car to the top of the mountain and it is something you must do. We are not skiers, it was sunny but -10 degrees so expected to be up there for an hour or so. To get some pics. We went up at 9:30 and didn’t come back down until 15:30. At the very top we explored in the snow and enjoyed the views to forever for about an hour. We had a hot chocolate but it was average. We went down one level to the main skiing level where we sat on the edge of the cliff and enjoyed a lovely lunch, and reasonably priced too. We then explored and played in the snow for a while before going to leave but we couldn’t. The views are so spectacular we decided to stay for some drinks again sitting on the side of the mountain. Greta day and a must for any visitor to Innsbruck.
