The cozy schist home in the village with a beautiful view from the terrace was fantastic, a very romantic setting. TIPS: If you're travelling in the off-season, be prepared with your own food and drinks and confirm with the owners that firewood, kindling and matches are available for the fireplace for heat. Also, it would be a good idea to have a smaller bag to bring from your car for this stay versus struggling with a large suitcase. Don't miss the traditional chestnut pastry at O Retalinho Cafe on the hidden away terrace, and a fabulous dinner at Taberna. Our host Filipa made our stay perfect.

I liked to stay in authentic house built with schist stone. the house was cozy, there were some kiwi on the table collected from tree near by. there was a physalis bush near by entry. There was a stove and I threw firewood and cones there before went to bed. The owner is really pastor so I've seen many goats. Wifi was good and there is everything for cooking.

We had a very nice experience staying in this rustic house in the almost abandoned village of Chiqueiro. You can find everything you need in the house. Our children liked the cats; we had 5 of them coming to our terrace. :)

This is a lovely typical house in a wonderful village close to Lousã. We enjoyed a lot the comfort and all amenities of the house. The village is located on a trail leading you to the Castelo de Lousã. We strongly recommend Casa do Cascão to anyone who would like to experience a visit to this part of Portugal.
The restoration of the village has been beautifully and thoughtfully conducted. It was a surprise to us just how good the facilities were, from the café, traditional meals served to your residence and great quality local arts and crafts. The staff are especially helpful and attentive, which made our stay all the more memorable. Highly recommended!

The experience of staying in a schist village is unique. Peaceful and in nature.The meal in the taberna was good although the owner had to chase the resident pigs away they were harmless and inquisitive

Cerdeira is a mountain retreat that is really unique. A small schist village with a creative difference. I enjoyed the peaceful night sounds of the small creek, the day hikes and even a dip in the (cold, cold cold) 'tank'! Simple and close to nature, this place is ideal for those who just want to just chill and get immersed in that book you've wanted to read forever. Great for a solo traveller.
