Great rural location. Relatively easy to find. Host's dad was there to meet us. When we were there the weather was cold but in summer, the large pool would be very relaxing. Large house with 4 double bedrooms (2 with ensuites). Dinner in the evening (several courses) by the host's mother. Big kitchen so we cooked our breakfast in the house.

Our stay at Vovó Luisa was an exceptionally enjoyable experience, probably the best rental of my life. This is completely due to the hosts, D. Lurdes and her family, who are wonderful people who provided a fantastic home and made certain that we had everything we needed to make our stay a special one.
Nestled in the tiny village of Alcouce and surrounded by orchards and vineyards, the little house is so comfortable that it could be a permanent home. In fact, the remodeled house was the home of D. Lurdes' grandparents. The home sleeps 2 people very comfortably (4+ if needed). The village is very peaceful, even during the harvest season when we were there. The location is ideal for short trips to Regua and to the numerous wineries along the Douro River. It's a fun, 20 minute drive to the river along winding roads with spectacular scenery.
The refrigerator was generously stocked with food, and there were huge baskets of locally produced nuts, breads and fruits, plus a decanter of local port wine. It was better than 5-star treatment.
Immaculately clean and warmly decorated, the bedroom and bath are quite sophisticated. There is air-conditioning and new fixtures and appliances including a clothes washer. The kitchen is better equipped than most people's permanent homes! It is a little nest that you won't want to leave despite the world-class scenery and wineries outside the door! This house is a very old structure built of large blocks of thick, granite stone. A couple of the adjacent stone structures were abandoned, but for us this just added to the rustic and ancient feel of the little village. You really feel as if you have gone back in history to a much simpler time. The contrast of a very modern little home inside walls of ancient stone gives Vovó Luisa a special and unique feeling.
Of course the most special part of our short stay at Vovó Luisa was D. Lurdes and her family who treated us like we were one of their own.

The owners made the experience unbelievable. Remoteness of the tiny village was amazing with proximity to Douro Valley. Food and classic feel of the cabin were wonderful. Just returned from a delightful stay in Arramar! This small village stole our hearts with its charming bakeries and warm locals. Our host went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, providing attentive service throughout our stay. While the hotel's decor may be a tad dated, its prime location and affordability more than make up for it. Our room was surprisingly spacious, impeccably clean, and boasted cozy beds with soft linens. Overall, a fantastic deal for a cozy getaway!
Located in a beautiful part of the Douro vineyard area. It is a off the main villages but the tranquillity and views more than made up for this.

Lovely, lovely, lovely!!!! We got lost on our way out of the village and had to ask for a taxi. They even checked in on us in the evening to make sure all was well! Excellent breakfast, welcoming hosts and lovely stay (plus Holly is adorable!).
nice and cozy hotel with attention to detail, small hotel with just a few rooms which makes it comfortable for a relaxing holiday. the location and the view is simply amazing, the room was clean and spacious, the staff kind and helpful. the pool area is great, facing a beautiful landscape. breakfast was also great, with lot of variety and good products. there are a few local restaurants nearby and the distance to the bigger villages with more options for dinner is of 15-20 mins by car.
The owner Luis and wife Zulmira were very helpful, sweet, and charming. Be sure to order the dinner meal it's very good and we ate in the big kitchen at the cozy chef's table. Elegant food in more traditional style but done very well and very inexpensive, cooked by the owner Luis. The breakfast was good with many options and with local fruits and produce. Room was clean and very spacious, bathroom is modern. The location is in a semi-flat area above the steep and scenic the door valley. The location is in an old and tiny village.
