Tranquility Tiny House by Tiny Away, hotel in Kaka Point

The air-conditioned vacation home is composed of 1 separate bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave and a fridge, and 1 bathroom. Towels and bed linen are provided in the vacation home.

The tiny house concept is interesting. The decor was charming (especially the William Morris print bedspread) and the kitchen well stocked. It was great to pick apples and pears to eat. The owners are truly committed to the environment.

Catlins Lake Sanctuary, hotel in Kaka Point

Catlins Lake Sanctuary is a holiday home with a garden, located near Owaka. The secluded property overlooks an estuary and farmland. It provides free private parking.

Location is spectacular - overlooking Catlins river and Lake in the one spot. Beds were very comfortable and the property was clean and tidy. Property is a little dated, but photos showed this, so it did meet expectations.

First time staying in a tiny home, and I love it!! The place has everything you need and is really comfy (although it did get really cold at night!). The hosts were super kind and waited pretty late for me to arrive.

The location is perfect with an amazing view out to sea. Inside is very comfortable, with reclining chairs positioned to take in the view, two seater dining table, comfortable bed, kitchenette with stove top, fridge & microwave (no oven), a great shower and a luxurious spa bath with a view! Everything you could want with some lovely thoughtful extras (candles, robes, footstools). Host Lisa is just a text away if you need anything, but has honestly already thought of everything. Absolutely would love to come back.

In this very comfortable, well-appointed apartment, from your sofa, you can sit and watch the rolling waves of the Pacific Ocean across the road. Our stay was one of luxury with Laura's daily housekeeping, her friendliness and helpfulness and the basket of goodies left for our enjoyment. 'Seascape' is an excellent base from which to explore all that the beautiful Catlins have to offer

Bates Bay motel is lovely with a nice view of the sea from the room window. I've stayed there before and wanted to stay longer this time, but in common with most of South Island, is oversubscribed with visitors. The facilities are good and it is beautifully quiet and peaceful. A mile into the village is "The Point", a super bar/restaurant/shop/community centre that I recommend for meals.
