We felt so privileged to spend our Xmas in this beautiful, historic building. The riad’s location, close to the hussle and bustle of Chefchaouen’s extraordinary narrow blue lanes, makes the graceful calm of the interior all the more surprising and welcoming. This really is a tranquil retreat with trickling fountain and tasteful art works and furniture. Full of surprises, the sunny roof terrace was a perfect sun trap and there is even a good quality table tennis table hidden on another terrace. But most of all this is a lavishly renovated family home, filled with echoes of its historic past and yet really comfortable for family travel in 2024. The staff are so welcoming and breakfast is an art work and culinary delight! As you can probably tell we absolutely loved our short time in Lalla Ghatya and I’m sure you will too!!!

The staff and the owner were absolutely wonderful and hospitable. The location in the mountains was magical. The city is within walking distance, the journey to the city is downhill and the return journey is uphill because you go along the mountain. Beautiful views of the mountains and the city. The accommodation was clean and cozy. Many beautiful plants and fruits grew around the house. There is also a washing machine for shared use. The owner also helped with taxis and rides. Breakfast, the food and tea were really good.

This beautifully restored and tastefully decorated house is located in heart of the historic town. The rooftop terrace has great views of the town and the surrounding hills. We were greeted at the entrance to the town and led to the house itself. The lady gave us a tour of the property and provided some tips re restaurants etc. In the morning, a lady came to prepare a hearty breakfast for us at a pre-arranged time. It was quite cold when we were there in December, but there was airco/ heating appliances in the bedrooms and adequate warm blankets.

Pretty little house on 4 floors. Cleanish throughout,, comfy bed but low ceiling in bedroom, little terrace with good views and useful kitchen.There is a washing machine too. Great living room and wifi. Bathroom facilities not great but all in all a really worthwhile stay and excellent value. Would recommend to a younger ( shorter!) clientele.
