We had an incredible stay at Pearl's Home Stay in Matale! The host was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The accommodation was very neat, clean, and comfortable, offering a cozy environment for a relaxing stay. The breakfast was simply amazing – delicious and freshly prepared, truly one of the highlights of my stay. This place is special. On the outskirts of Kandy (20min with Tuktuk, ca. 330 rupees). Beautiful and well-kept villa overlooking rice-fields, with extra friendly staff, a good room that leaves nothing to be desired. We were invited to join the cooking of our dinner in the outdoor kitchen, which was a great experience, as some ingredients came straight from the organic vegetable garden. The food was SO GOOD, both dinner and breakfast. Lots of flying bats in the evening, accompanied by chill music and an overall lovely vibe. We liked it so much that we came back 2 weeks later, here we got help (and a good price) for a taxi transfer to Nuwara-Eliya.
This is not the right hotel if you want to arrive late, eat out, and leave early the next morning. Thank you Sandy & Team for everything!

We stayed in the villa for two days on Poya-day during the Perahera. The house is magnificent, in a beautiful park/garden, with a lot of authentic details, with al modern comfort. The owners are a wonderfully welcoming couple and the staff are very friendly and helpfull. A short (15min) ride to Kandy, but very calm, surrounded bij nature, it Made for a relaxing stay, after the excitement of the festival. We had the best breakfast, the lady of the house made waffles and even, for tea, donuts for our children. Upon discovering our daughters’ love for avocado, they went picking fresh ones in the garden, as well as passion fruit, for a snack on the road!

The caretaker was the star - Rohitha was exceptionally helpful, regularly providing meals and helping with my elderly parents. I would recommend anyone who is new to Kandy too stay here because it makes your trip a lot easier.
The house is very bright and open and clean. Shower is amazing with a rain shower head in almost all rooms.
Perfect for families, groups or couples who enjoy luxury and independence while travelling. Enjoy the space and privacy of these fully-furnished, self-standing mansions — travellers can cook, lounge and explore at their leisure. Note that in Bali, a resort will also be called a villa.
Breakfast was amazing. Pearl and Ranjan were excellent hosts nothing was too much trouble. They organised a tuk driver for me and Ranjan even came to the train station on my departure. The room was perfect and the bed very comfortable. I would happily recommend this homestay - a perfect retreat.
This felt like staying with Grandma and Grandpa. We felt very welcome and at home throughout our stay, hosts are very friendly and happy to help in anyway they can.
We extended our stay so that we could do a tour around the hosts local village which was beautiful and so worthwhile.
We also were able to cook dinner in their kitchen which was lovely and a nice change as we have both been traveling for a while.

The convenient location makes it an excellent choice for those seeking a peaceful retreat in Matale.
Beautiful quiet location in the middle of Knuckles mountains with amazing views of the mountains. Perfect place to stay when hiking in the Knuckles as the property is located very near the village where most of the hikes start. The staff is very helpful and satisfied everything we asked for. We booked for one night and they accommodated us for another night after our hike and let us leave our car at the site when we did an overnight hike. They also provide breakfast and dinner which was welcome as there are no restaurants nearby the property.
A peaceful retreat close to the city center. Immaculately tidy, thanks to the wonderful couple who not only managed the place but also showered us with kindness and helpfulness.
The view from this property is breathtaking of a tropical mountains and forest. Something you see in the movies. Beautifully maintained garden. The host is very kind and helpful and clearly wants to make your stay as best as it can be. The trip to the village was very interesting (better early morning as it gets hot later), a big thank you to the lovely guide. We had all meals at the property as I think was the only option having in mind the difficult last 500m of road and the location. The food was good local cuisine.
The location was perfect for me but note that there is no electricity or phone signals at the site. You have the whole river to yourself which is lovely. The path to the site is through paddy fields overlooking the mountains which is beautiful. The local villagers who took care of me and gave me food was friendly and very helpful.
Sarath and his family are the most welcoming and amiable hosts we had on our journey in Sri Lanka. The lodging is on top of a hill and inside a plantation so you are all surrounded by beautiful nature. As part of the plantation Sarath and his family are growing their own coffee and spices from which Sarath's wife cooked a most delicious breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed our stay at Plantation Retreat very much and will never forget the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. We can very much recommend a stay here.
