This is just the place if you are looking for a beautiful simple accommodation that is directly in nature with ocean. Ramesh and his mother are helpful with everything and make you feel like you are part of their wonderful family. They help you organise your trip and show a full effort to make your stay perfect.
The breakfast is amazing, you get a huge portion of fruit, tea coffee, eggs and toast with Sri Lankan rice & curry. The property is in a great location, close enough to the beach. You are surrounded by nature and can see monkeys, squirrels and birds. There are great cafes and restaurants in the area.
The family is so lovely and hospitable that you can't help but extend it all the time. They invited us to join traditional family celebrations which allowed a unique insight into the culture.
The price is more than justified and I will certainly return to Villa 826 ahungalla on my next stay.

Villa 42 is, in short a hidden gem. For anyone looking for comfort, privacy and wonderful hospitality they won't get any better than this lovely villa just half a mile or so from gorgeous (mostly empty) beaches and several decent restaurants (ask Siri for recommendations). Siri will provide his pampered guests with the best of breakfasts adapting tp personal taste (Sri Lankan style or to more western taste). Siri's well maintained swimming pool will be your refreshing reward after a few hours of Sri Lankan heat.

We stayed as a family of three in January 2025.
The house is spacious, with its own yard and pool. Everything is in great condition! It is located in a local village, surrounded only by locals' houses.
There is a large, almost deserted sandy beach within walking distance - you can even hear the sound of the waves from the house (not loud). On the main street, also within walking distance, you will find a supermarket, pharmacy and a liquor store.
This place is perfect for those who are not looking for parties or crowds - just the ocean and wildlife, including monitor lizards, monkeys, mongooses and chipmunks (very cute!). If you want to fully immerse yourself in local authenticity, this is the place for you.
Things to keep in mind: the waves are usually average, but we still managed to swim and splash around.
The WiFi is great! Super fast and reliable. There is no safe, however, in the closets in the bedrooms there are small drawers with locks. There are many outdoor surveillance cameras.
P.S. If you bring your own wine, please note that there is no corkscrew in the kitchen. Otherwise, everything you need for cooking is provided.
Also, there is a water heater only in one bathroom, but this is not a big problem, as the cold water is not icy - it is refreshing after being in the sun. One time, the plug of the water heater burned out, but it was fixed the same day (great service!).

The property is very well presented with large bedroom & bathroom & terrace - the breakfast was served just outside our room. The swimming was excellent and well maintained and warm. The staff were very welcoming and worked hard to keep us all happy. The beach was a 5 min walk and is stunning - very natural and untouched. The wifi worked in the whole of the hotel.

The property was a short walk from a nearby beachfront hotel where you could use their pool for a charge and other beachfront bar with natural sea pool.
Such a hospitality of the villa owners! They made us feel like home. The room was very clean. We got everything we needed to stay 11 nights. Great shower and comfortable bed. Lovely terrace to spend evenings. Having a fridge was also a huge plus. It was lovely hearing singing birds in the garden and watching wildlife. I miss our mornings having lovely breakfasts in the terrace!
Everything, it couldn't have been more perfect. The ocean and beach setting, the fresh stylish interiors, impeccably maintained, pristine clean, the friendly attentive staff, the delicious food (breakfast is wonderful the fruit platter with so many tropical fruits wow) the peace and tranquillity, the plentiful day beds and sun loungers, the pool. Small and intimate yet private. Could not ask for more or better. An idyllic luxury retreat.

Ahu Bay resort offered a true beachfront location. It was lovely to wake up and enjoy a swim from the villa. The beach is small tucked into a narrow bay with swaying palm trees 🌴and safe to swim.
The small modern boutique style hotel offered an excellent restaurant with an interesting food & wine menu. All staff members were friendly and efficient.
Immaculate gardens & pool, lovely staff especially Vija. Large bathroom and good shower. Interesting breakfast.
This is a proper health retreat (which we didn’t realise) so no alcohol available (you were able to bring your own in) and only vegetarian food served but the staff really went out their way for us and brought in coffee and bread which I don’t think was normally available.
Nilnara Villa was absolutely stunning, spacious, clean and cozy place to stay a few or even more days! It is located a bit away from the (urban) noise with a nice beach (great pool!) but at the same time very close (by tuk tuk/motorbike) to the near villages/cities. The stuff was always there for us and helped in any ways (even took us to the airport) and even the chef cooked us wonderful meals.

I wouldn't call it luxury but it's a great, comfortable place for a couple and families with older kids, right on the beach and with a nice, large pool. It's only two villas so you'd often end up the only people there.
The food they prepared in the small kitchen was really really nice.
