It was our first time in Lamu and Alejandra and Zion were great hosts, the communication was easy and they were very supportive. The house is beautiful and very authentic, it gives a very unique Lamu experience. It is located in the center of Lamu town, 2 minutes walk from the harbor.
The breakfast was made by Zion and it was delicious. Zion was a great help during the two days we spent at the house.

Each member of staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect.
Balsam, the host was extremely helpful answering all of our questions promptly. Martin, the chef, cooked us amazing food that never disappointed. I highly recommend his services. Levis, Ali,Josiah and Carlos looked after us all discretely and kept the Villa sparkling. They were super friendly and responsive to our needs.
The Villa is stunning, clean and had everything we needed. The air con and pool were very welcome also.
Perfect for families, groups or couples who enjoy luxury and independence while travelling. Enjoy the space and privacy of these fully-furnished, self-standing mansions — travellers can cook, lounge and explore at their leisure. Note that in Bali, a resort will also be called a villa.
Very clean and friendly staff, the villa is cozy and there’s many spaces to relax on. Everything worked well and the Umma house team catered to all our needs.
It’s better to prepare because there is a lot of mosquitoes
Beautiful house with private pool, spacious bedrooms and several terraces to hang out on. Great location in old Lamu, close to shops, museums and the sea with great boat rides to wonderful beaches Manda and Shela.
Large and lovely private terrace with a beautiful view of the water.
Clean and spacious room.
Central Shela, it's easy to reach all you need in the village.
Breakfast was fine and the staff were all very polite and friendly! Would recommend.
Beautiful location in Shela village, stunning gardens around the hotel and a short walk to Shela Beach which goes on forever. The restaurant at Kijani is amazing, better than Peponi! Definitely have the Kijani Crab Curry!
The location of Subira House could not be better if you wish to live in Lamu village. The staff as well as Christina were both helpful and friendly. I felt at home. Excellent value for money
breakfast was good, the view is excellent, it is located right by the beach. The rooms are standard and not luxury, veranda is excellent, sit and see sunset and sunrise. that is lovely pool is small but okay
Delicious home made breakfast from the in house bakery, a great team to look after you and a lovely airy place with lots of calm spaces to escape the heya and hustle of the village. I 100% recommend Jua House, especially for solo travelers and those wishing to avoid the hassle of renting a house.
The serenity and beauty of the resort is what blew us away and made our stay extra special. So many cozy nooks in the villas to relax in, take a photo, put your feet up or read a book.
The suite we stayed in was so cozy and had in our view the best view on the island.
The Majlis staff are extremely polite and hardworking. We were impressed and enjoyed having conversations with them from time to time.
This is a very nice guesthouse with friendly helpful staff. We had a room with shuttered windows on three sides and a balcony. Our view was across the water and in the street below we watched the boats coming and going, people at work with their donkeys, children swimming in the sea. Right next door is a great restaurant. Lamu is buzzing with life without mass tourism. A boat ride to Shela village takes you to a more conventional beachfront holiday. It is lovely there and the food and wine delightful.
