Private GUEST HOUSE KUMANOYASAI, hotel in Tanabe

Private GUEST HOUSE KUMANOYASAI offers accommodations in Tanabe, 6.3 miles from Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art and 11 miles from Kamitonda Concert Hall.

All details of this beautiful place have been lovingly thought of by the owner, Shino. Comfortable and cozy living and sleeping spaces. It has an ofuru (bath tub) to relax from and wash off the day’s exhaustion from walking the Kumano Kodo. The guesthouse is located on a small hill overlooking rice fields and mountain ranges, which is perfect for a quiet and serene evening of rest. We also availed of meals and packed lunch that were simply exquisite, and were prepared by Shino. All in, it was a restful, relaxing, and lovely stay.

Great stay in an incredibly well equiped cabin. It is expensive but quite luxurious after a day of hiking the Kumano Kodo. Only downside is the check in, which is difficult and kind of unclear.

The house is located in a charming village and was an incredibly comfortable stay. Communication with our host was great and the breakfast with the delicious bagels she had provided was exactly what we needed to continue our journey fully recharged.

You won't get much better than this for cheap and cheerful Kumano-kodo breaks. I even got a peanut butter and jelly sandwich kit. You have access to basic cooking facilities, and you sleep in a nice little cupboard. The staff are friendly and personable. It's clean and cheap for the area. If you don't need luxury there's no reason to stay anywhere else really.

This is a lovely stay, a location if you are on way to Kumano Kodo, and perfect stop over for rest. We explored this small pleasant village, and took hikes into the forest, what magnificent nature! The host is truly welcoming, we received a home-made dinner and breakfast, and had a chance to chat with other travellers. The tatami mats were very comfortable and not too hard to sleep on like in other locations ;) Once again thank you for the pleasant stay. Wish we could stay longer!

It locates near the supermarket and bus station with great convenience. Though the space is not that big, the set-up and decoration is quite smart. The room is clean and cozy to let me relax completely after exhausting hiking. Each room is equipped with a balcony in the roof top thus you could enjoy your food as well as nice view of the village. And snacks and beverage provided in the room really help me a lot because it’s hard to buy food on the second day. In total, I like this place very much.

Situated right at the end of the section of the Kumano Kodo trail from Takijiri-oji. Sen Retreat exceeded our expectations and we wish we could have stayed longer. We hadn’t brought any supplies with us on the trail and we were overjoyed to find the makings of a delicious Shabu Shabu (hot pot) including local boar meat. A lovely range of cold drinks, cookies etc was also appreciated. The house was warm, cosy and so stylish. The beds were comfy and we appreciated the robes.

The location is perfect, just at the entrance of the village after the long hike, and right across the bus stop. The room is new and clean. Ike-san speaks good English and Mandarin and enjoys conversations with guests. The cooking is fun. Recommend to order the meal service since most restaurants close early and require reservations. Overall a great immersion experience on the Kumano Kodo.

This was an amazing experience unlike any of our other stays in Japan. Simon and Yumiko were so kind. They picked us up from the trail, took us to buy food for the evening and dropped us back the next morning. Their village in the mountains is really off the beaten track with beautiful views.

Ike’s house with good location in village centre, within 10 mins walking to restaurant and grocery. It’s clean, safe and comfortable. Ike is hospitable that he leads all customers to see the practice of celebration which is once a year. It’s so lucky to experience it! And he treat all customers beers and chat with us. It’s very memorable!
