Excellent and friendly host who speaks fluent English and was very straight forward; 5 minute walk to the ferry and bicycle hire and restaurants; the host texted to "not expect much for breakfast" but she left some fruit and a loaf of bread with jams and spreads which was fine, there is a small fridge and a little shower, futons for the floors, can wash your clothes and hang them on the line out back.
Just a 6-minute walk from Sumiyoshi-taisha Temple and half a mile from Naoshima Pavillion, Naoshima Juju Art House 直島ジュジュアートハウス features accommodations in Naoshima with a garden.

This is an unbelievably beautiful property. The gardens are breathtaking and the house has been lovingly restored the bed is very comfortable-the best we slept in 2 weeks in Japan. Allen was a gracious host, helping us around the island with great recommendations. Farm fresh eggs and homemade amazing yogurt, bread, and jams made breakfast very special. This place is worth a trip to Teshima.

This perfectly preserved traditional japanese house proved to be the perfect housing for our stay exploring Teshima and Naoshima. Alan, the host, proved to be invaluable in his recommendations about how to best visit the islands. He also gave us tasty addresses for lunch and dinner and even drove us there at night. We think the villa is the perfect setting for a family, it provided us for a welcome respite during our very busy 2 weeks in Japan. We rented bikes and thanks to them, we were able to crisscross Teshima although your youngest son is only 10. Alan not only welcomed us right at the ferry arrival but was always in touch with us before and during the stay. 10/10 ! (The sister villa "Queen" looks very nice too)
Perfect for families, groups, or couples who enjoy luxury and independence while traveling. Enjoy the space and privacy of these fully-furnished, free-standing mansions – travelers can cook, lounge, and explore at their own pace. Note that in Bali, a resort will also be called a villa.
Nice stay, a surprise and staff clearly the best, really clean, with rent bicycles, the breakfast altough is not in the hotel, it is in the village center, is really good.
This seaside guesthouse is perfectly located on the small harbour of the 3rd village of the island of Naoshima. It is some 20 min. walking from the northern ferry harbour and some 10 min. by bus from the southern harbour.
We had a nice room with seaview, with a shared living room/pantry and a shared bathroom. The host was very friendly and the complementary bicycles were free to use.
best stay of our trip through japan. a lovely large room with a sea view. good electric bicycles. picked up from the boat. by bike in 5 minutes at the supermarket and restaurant in the village. Super nice and helpful lady.
The island is magnificent.
It was self catering. Location was perfect. Quite village street with a view of the little harbour. Walking distance to the Benesse complex and bus stop within a 100 meters.
Bamboo Village is a lovely place to stay in Naoshima - conveniently located, you can actually easily walk through the island to get to Bennesse and Chichu museums area, and on the other hand explore the art houses in Honmura. Plus super friendly hosts, running the place with care to details and helpful - we’ve felt super well welcomed & would definitely 100% recommend!
The staff were very welcoming, and we were able to get into the villa a little early. The room was clean and comfortable, although I found it quite cold at night. Location not far from the port, and the breakfast café was very nice. We would stay here again.
There is a lot to like about Bamboo Village guest house - including the excellent personalised customer service. Great location if you don't mind walking a hill. Lovely outlook. I had a room with ensuite.
The hosts were extremely helpful and attentive. They helped us make restaurants reservations before our trips, picked us up at the ferry and then drove us to next hotel to drop off our bags.
The house was very confortable and we slept like babies. Well located right in Honmura village.
Easy walk from the ferry and bus stops. Great breakfast! Able to rent electric bikes on the property. Staff was very helpful and polite. We loved our stay in the villas.
This was a budget friendly option for me. Although it doesn't offer the luxury of a good hotel stay, it does have really good facilities. The location was OK. There are two great family restaurants a minute from the property. But it is in a small fishing village, which, although charming, doesn't have nightlife. The bus stop is just outside the property, and you can easily get to all the art installations and museums on the local bus.
The owner was really helpful. He dropped me at the ferry port on my last day.
