Honestly, this place was fantastic and we were sad to just spend one night there. The area is nice and remote, less than a minute walk from Lake Biwa. We were able to wash our clothes and get a great night's rest.
But the best part of our stay were the hosts. I don't know their names, but they were so kind to us. The husband took is to the Floating Gate, waited for us and drove is to the nearest train station! That was awesome.

There is an amazing bakery located outside Shiga station a few steps from the house, which is well worth supporting. Daikichi Yakitori a couple minutes walk up the street was also fabulous. There are a number of small restaurants within walking distance if you don't have a car. Located close to Biwako Valley if you would like to take the cable car up the mountain and enjoy the fabulous views. The bus departs from Shiga station so Biwako Valley is very accessible even without your own transport.
The internet was not working and there were no instructions on how to connect to it. This was replaced within a short time by the host and after sending them pictures of the dirty fridge they also refunded the cleaning fee.

The home was beautiful and comfortable. The neighbourhood was quiet and peaceful. The hosts were helpful, friendly and kind. Everything we needed was provided. We were picked up at the train station and were able to pick up supplies on the way to the home. We had a very relaxing stay even though it rained the entire time. The host took us site seeing on the way back to the station and shared knowledge about the area and history. We had a fun time!
