Before we arrived, during our stay, and after Katrin really couldn’t be more accommodating or make the stay easier! The cabin is exactly what it says and more, set in a gorgeous nature reserve, only a short and easy drive from shops and about 20-30mins from Reykjavík. It had a very cosy and welcoming feel along with all we needed for days and evenings in during our 5 day stay over Christmas. When we come back to Iceland in the future I don’t think we would even look any further than staying here again - truly magical

If you’re thinking of visiting Reykjavík and looking for a place to stay, look no further:
Vakta was amazing and the host, Margrét, was even better! We took our family of 4 on a quick 4.5 day trip to Iceland, because our boys wanted to see the northern lights. Originally, I tried booking a hotel for my wife and I, and our 2 boys(7 and 5). Every hotel we looked at was too small and could accommodate the 4 of us in one room so we decided on an air bnb. That’s when I came across Vakta and we couldn’t have been happier with our decision.
First of all, the house is so cozy, and wonderfully decorated with unique 1 of a kind items that made the historic house feel even more special. Margrét made sure we had everything we needed. We were walking distance to everything(food, shopping, museums, drinks, sightseeing, bus stops) and Margrét had a car for us to use to explore and hunt for the lights. Our boys loved the sleeping arrangements in the lofts and couldn’t wait to lay down every night.
Margrét was easy to get in touch with and also helped us with any questions we had.
If we ever visit Reykjavik again we will be sure to try and stay here again.

Our family spent 6 nights at this great house. We loved the location - right in the edge of downtown (a 3 minute walk at most) - which allows you to easily access the restaurants, bars and shops and still be in a quiet spot at night. The house had plenty of room for our family of 7 to spread out. We were appreciative of the special touches the owners took to make sure we were comfortable, such as leaving a bowl of fresh fruit on the table for us and having some provisions on hand for our arrival like coffee pods for the coffee machine on site, olive oil, spices and sugar. It was a perfect home base for our stay in Iceland!

Great location! Close to ocean and 20 minute walk to city center. Great value as well given hotels are so expensive in Iceland.
Perfect for families, groups, or couples who enjoy luxury and independence while traveling. Enjoy the space and privacy of these fully-furnished, free-standing mansions – travelers can cook, lounge, and explore at their own pace. Note that in Bali, a resort will also be called a villa.
The Viking Village is conveniently located near bus stops for both the Flybus and public transportation lines. Breakfast was good. We had a very nice meal at the on site restaurant. The view of the harbor across from the hotel was nice.
We, 2 adults and 2 children stayed in a clean, warm and cozy cabin. The whole hotel feels like you really are in a Viking village. Breakfast room is gorgeous and breakfast itself is very good
Very nice apartment fully equipped with all stuff that you need during your stay. Luxurious, spacious, with very comfortable beds and extraordinary view.
the ambience of the hotel was a fantastic experience. huge bonus being a short walk to the christmas village/shopping area. breakfast was very well setup and delicious with good variety.
The viking village area is great and very quirky.. the staff were great. The restaurant opposite the hotel was great with lovely staff. The decor is very interesting
Very nice place and decorated in the Viking Spirit. We stayed in the village and the kids loved the bunk beds and "extra attic". The food at the restaurant (dinner) and breakfast was very good.
